This looks very nice. But this is not a Palomino, and in fact a champagne. You can tell by the pink muzzle. :)
I think you did an awesome job on the cut out as well as the pose placement and proportion to the background. The tail looks really nice as well.
A few things stick out to me as places that could use some improvement. First being the mane. The top looks really nice, but the bottom is kind of blunt. Like someone just cut it with scissors. In order to correct this, i would draw on some more flyaways / wisps at the bottom to give the mane a more natural appearance.
The second thing i think could use some adjustment is the ground connection. The area where the horse is placed would be a hard wet sand. Yet the feet just kind of disappear. In this situation the feet wouldn't sink in very much and should be mostly visible. I dont think you can correct that in this piece, as youve already erased a good portion.
Next would be a shadow. Even in dim lighting, a shadow is always cast. There are very few instances where a shadow isn't present.
I think if you start by studying and correcting this few fundamental things, your art will really take a step into the next level and you can start focusing on learning lighting. :)
Good luck!
