Howdy Art Nerds!
Since Art Studies (of masters, photos, real life) are one of the best ways to improve our art, I thought I'd start an Art Study thread for our studies! Feel free to share your studies in an media you see fit, whether traditional (pencil, pen, gouche, chalk, etc.) or digital (phone, tablet, mouse?!) These aren't our masterpeices, our babies, or final products. But every study teaches us something and shows us where we can grow more. These are part of the vital process of learning form, color, composition & lighting, as well as good practice for learning a new medium. If you need some reference photos check out this site, but make sure not to use any of the websites forbidden in this thread. As always, make sure to credit your reference on your image, even if it's a Work In Progress. Resources in the link above are intended for Art Studies ONLY. Make sure to check the copyright usage as these images may not be distributable for profits before you use them as a references for your art stores. Where possible please provide a link to the original image so we can see how you interpretted the original to your art. Looking forward to seeing everyone share and grow! Starting it off with a quick work-in-progress Buckskin I did today (from Morguefile): Edited at August 22, 2020 03:39 PM by Abyssal Arabians

Completed study, ~1 hr time. Learned I need to get back into drawing horses more often. Also horse chin hairs are cute. Hoping to see other artists in the study group soon!

Not sure if this counts as a study, but here is a drawing I made of a Siberian husky :) I took the pose from this picture (Pose and basic shapes) But it was freehand Here was the WIP, that I then traced over with a finer line. Edited at August 24, 2020 09:26 AM by Lucky Ranch

This can absolutely count as a form and/ or pose study (depending on your intended focus). You captured both form and pose here really well! Edited at August 24, 2020 09:46 AM by Abyssal Arabians

Just over 1 hr, it still has a very rough work-in-progress feel. I'm learning which brushes to use for texture in CS Pro as well as refining my color technique. Form and lighting weren't as critical here. Photo reference. Detail: Edited at August 31, 2020 12:49 AM by Abyssal Arabians

These are really nice. Hands are really tough to draw well. The bottom left one looks perfect!
