I recently caught an Apricot TB (with WC Bravery...eek!), and gene tested him. Im honestly confused. Is he Apricot by luck? Will he pass Apricot on? What are the Apricot genes? Edited at May 19, 2021 08:39 AM by Querencia TB's

Did some reading and I think its red based with pearl? So he's ee and prlprl meaning he should produce apricot Could a genetics expert confirm?

Congrats! Apricots are chestnuts with double prl, so ee prlprl. He can produce apricots if bred with mares than can throw prl and chestnut. Matching him with apricot mares will get you apricots 100% of the time and with chestnuts/red with Prlprl about 50% of the time. But really as long as the mare can make chestnuts and has prl you have a chance of getting apricots.

Apricot = Chestnut with homozygous pearl (prlprl) So the mares must be able to throw chestnut and have pearl
