Okay I do DoorDash full time where I live. I make decent money (usually inbetween 1,500 - 3,000k a month depending how much I work, and what time of year it is). However they don't take money out for taxes, I have to save that out myself. I try to but every time I have money saved up I have to use it for something (think car repairs, vet bills, food bills, things like that), so I took a part time job washing dishes at a local pizza place near home. I don't mind washing dishes since I do that at home after making meals.
Now at this place I'm doing the job of 2 to 3 people. You have a soak sink, a spray sink, and a rack/spray sink, then the sanitizer, then the dry rack. Now everytime I worked in resturante in the past the dishwashing station is manned by at least 2 people. One to wash and load, and the other one loads the sanitizer and puts away dishes once dry. Other places have three, one to wash/scrub dishes, one to spray and load, the other to unload and put away. I'm doing all three, by myself usually. Sometimes I have help if it's slow up front and one of the front workers will come back and put things up.
My boss knows I have bad knees and I do my best to keep up, so yes I may be a little slow, but I do my job and keep my head down, not causing trouble, and I will even help bus tables when we're slow just so I have something else to do while waiting for more dishes to come to the back. And there were times where the boss forgot to schedule someone over 21 to work the front to pour the beer, and I'd have to stop doing dishes to pour beer for the guests.
Well the other day I had a co-worker get on my case for the way I dumped the utinsles into the spray sink to spray them down because of the grease, caked on food, ect... he has the balls to tell me I'm doing things wong, pushes me aside to do my job, and I'm telling him I know what I'm doing. His condecending attitude and remarks pissed me off, and I went to the general manager and told her to tell him to back the fuck off me other wise I'm going to walk. I didn't report him the first time he pulled this shit, but this time was a bad pain day for my knees so yeah I lost it. I confronted him, and they want to keep me, so the GM told him to back off and let me do my job. He tries to cop an an attitude with her by saying I've been doing this longer and I'm faster, but goes back to making pizzas which is what he was there to do that day.
He brings things back to me and slams them down, and I'm pretty much fuming mad still. The GM checks on me, and I told her keep him away from me, otherwise it's likely I'll hurt him. After the shift I told the GM I can't work with this guy if he's going to be pulling crap like this and one day he's going to push me to explode on him in front of customers, and if I do that I will walk off. She said if I do that he might comeback on me for it, and I said let him. I worked in a male dominated world (Security/law enforcement) for 22 years and have proven I have a bigger set than most of the guys I've worked with. I don't put up with people like my co-worker who thinks he knows everything.
So I guess I'm going to be talking to the owner of the place and tell him what went down and what needs to be done. Plus point out I rarely have dishes returned for recleaning to me, because I spray down first, then soapy scrub, then another spray to make sure I get everything off, then load, run through the sanitizer, and then unload, dry, and put away. I do this by myself and rarely get help unless we are super slammed. And considering what I'm being paid I really don't need the job due to the DoorDash money I make. I'm just doing it so I have money to put towards taxes, and to offset what I may owe via DoorDash after I do all my write off, and a little extra spending cash after I pay my bills.
Sorry for the long rant, but this guy just really pissed me off.
