So, yesterday we hauled Zippy (and Duchess, the chestnut QH my sister's leasing) out to this nicer jumping barn for a clinic. We did one day of the clinic and hauled back today. Zippy did buck a lot while cantering in the clinic but it was probably my fault, I was a bit tenser than usual. We did a crossrail line and someone called him "scopey" (which I uh- I was shocked that he actually decided to jump the jumps xD) Anyways! The clinic went great! And tomorrow we're getting a horse we're supposed to care lease hauled out to us. He's a quarab. He's a bit smaller than Zippy (who's almost 16hh and a stocky-ass QH/Haflinger/paint cross) but definitely still large enough for me (120lbs, 5'5) and my younger sister (string bean, 5'7+) to ride. He's out of shape- we got the opportunity to lease him because he's owned by a friend who decided to purchase a fancy new dressage horse, and no longer has time for him. We've decided that if possible we're going to rehabilitate him and work him into the beginner riders lesson schedule, in addition to doing hack rides to school him and keep him in shape. I'm super excited to work with a "new" horse, especially one that I KNOW is a solid citizen and can help me work on myself so I can help Zippy more effectively. Plus he's great at trailering (Duchess isn't, and sharing Zippy between three people isn't the best idea) so if it works out, we can take him and Zippy and go on trail rides!

The barn basically flooded last night (I had to help bring horses in after I got back from the clinic and it was raining SO hard) so the new horse is NOT coming today, sadly. Sunday at the earliest...

I had a riding lesson today, and it went really well! A piece of the advice I got from the clinic was to carry a dressage whip instead of a crop, and it seemed to be a lot more effective. Zippy was very good walk and trot (he's got the world's smoothest trot, it's why I love him lol) and had a sustained canter for a few minutes! Got him nice and collected and started to work on slowing him down. Tomorrow would be my jumping lesson but my instructor's taking the day off, so I'll have to wait till Monday for that, at least. I'll be doing a hack ride tomorrow. Zippy got a new pasture buddy named Corey (big fancy shmancy warmblood) and they seem to get along, or at least Corey knows to stay out of the way.

Had a hack ride yesterday. Zippy was a *very* good boy and I actually got some really nice canter transitions and a slow, collected canter from him. And then he bucked but it was most likely my fault (stayed on though lol). I'm excited for Sunday. :D

So, Danny's supposed to return in the next few days! Sunday went really well! I had a lesson Monday as well which went slightly less well because Zippy started bucking in the canter and I started getting pretty tense (which made it worse) but we pulled through.
