I read about a mystery today, about the very mysterious death of a young Appaloosa mare. Snippy was a 3 yr old mare at Harry King Ranch. She disappeared one day, and on September 7th, 1967, roughly a day or 2 after she vanished, her body was found mutilated. The body was almost completely intact, except that from the base of her neck up, there was not a speck of flesh. It was perfectly sawed from her body, with not a single jagged edge. There was also no hood marks leading to the spot, and no blood whatsoever. A day or two later, the owners came to see it for themselves, and supposedly the neck bones had turned a pinkish tone, and there was a small piece of flesh on the ground, and when the woman picked it up it burned her skin like acid. Reportedly there were also scorch marks on the ground as if from exhaust pipes. 2 days later, another horse turned up dead in the same manner about 1/4 mi away from the ranch property. Authorities refused to go out, and claimed it was just lighting that had struck the unfortunate mare. Interesting Tidbit- not long after the area was tested, and it proved to be radioactive, but only after the mares death MOD EDIT: While I love the image and it's incredibly fascinating, please put a trigger warning on something like that. ~Ven Fixed for the reason stated above :) Here we go- TW, horses body, not for the faint of heart Forums are being weird right now it may need to be corrected, the link I mean Edited at May 7, 2023 10:46 PM by Bluebonnet Estates

I saw that too when I dug into it, although how would they not notice it when they checked her over when they found her? Unless it was on the other side?

Yeah that's the part I had a hard time with too, because I feel like that's a pretty noticeable thing. Maybe it was on the other side yeah, although that still doesn't explain the neck removal and the radioactivity 🤔 almost makes you wonder if he just said that to calm people down since he didn't exactly show the bullet holes in that news clipping

I found another web page on this mystery. There are some rather grusome photos in it. But with Joker found about the bullet holes, I dug a bit deeper. The bullets were in the right flank and made by 2 small calibur rounds.

Another theory was the mare tripped and fell onto a radioactive anthill if you read the entire piece and click on the news pages hotlinked in. It was a facinating read.

Could it be fire maybe? But the bones would probably be scorched 🤔

If ther had been a fire the whole body would have been scorched. I've done serach and rescue. However if the mare had been hit by lightning then it could be possible to sustain the damage she did, same with a spontaionus combustion. This mystery kind of reminds me of another one. The murder of Dr. Mary S. Sherman.
