Through the dust I see other horses, greys blacks and a few chestnuts. Though I hear hooves hitting the ground;
there is also the sound of heavy breathing.
The smell of sweat and leather fill my lungs
.I taste a metal bit, pinching my tongue.
The person on my back taps my flank with a whip,
The turf is flying from under me like a treadmill at 12.
My coat gleams of browns and white, a mixture of grey around my mouth. Blinkers blind my side vision,
IÂ’m running along the Dog,
a grey is coming from behind me, I put in a burst of speed
The sound of cheers erupt from the stands as I finish the finish line and take the race.
Story:
The rush of air smacks me right as I hit the cold straw. My mother was on the ground next to me. It was a roomy box. In my head a strong voice came. Stand now! Show them your the fastest colt to stand! I stood. My legs a bit wobbly at first, but I got the hang of it within the minute. There were people staring down at me. They only had two legs and looked happy, but amazed. A young one came running down the isle, out of no where. She came so fast it knocked me down. I got bake up, but she started arguing with the other weird two leggeds.
Within a week I was out in the pasture. My mother beside me while I frolecked around. The young girl must have been around 13 in her age. I had learned her name is Taylor. Taylor was a pretty name, was what my mother told me. The next couple of days, she wouldn't let me nurse, and started to kick me away from her. I was put into a pasture full of yearlings. The humans said something around, "Weaned yearly, better get training started." Whatever that mean't.
I listened to Taylor talk a lot. She talked about my mother. Saying she was a blue hen at Smith Acres, which is where I am. They kept putting ropes on my face and pulling me around with it on. Most of the time I just followed and went where ever they wanted me to go with it on. I started eating grass and grain and dry grass. Taylor calls it Hay. It was starting to storm when I was being brought in from the muddy pasture. It was raining hard and white things were falling from the sky. It got so cold they put on out thick blankets and turned on the heat. They also gave us warm mash to keep us even warmer. The next day was the worst. It was when someone was gonna get on me.
Will do the rest later. Have to go to bed, currently 10:42PM and there is school tomorrow.))
