<div align="center">Chapter 1 <div align="center"> <div align="center">I looked through the small window of a tiny 2 horse trailer. I saw a liquid brown eye looking back. Either I pay 2k and bring him home with me or I turn his owners offer down and he goes to slaughter. I was sitting in my truck thinking. Andy had been abused his while life and he was 7. Andy lived in a small breeding facility. The only time he left his stall was to breed a mare. Andy's stall was knee deep with manure. I was listing the pros and cons in my head. Now, as I think about it I don't know why I took so long to decide. After about and hour I made my decision. I would bring Andy home. I hooked my truck up to the tiny trailer and drive it home. On the way I was contemplating my decision, I haven't seen anymore of Andy than his right eye.<div align="center"> <div align="center">When we arrived at my stall farm I backed the trailer up to the barn doors and got out. I opened the stall door I wanted Andy in. All my other horses were outside in the big pastures. I opened the back of the trailer and Andy came flying out and ran to his stall. I immediately noticed he was a roan/Bay/Liver Chestnut color. Andy was wearing a small black nylon halter that dug into his skin, a rusty stud chain, and what looked to be a heavy weight, Hunter Green blanket tied on with baling twine. <div align="center"> <div align="center">Thoughts?? <div style="text-align: center;">Chapter 2 <div style="text-align: center;"> <div style="text-align: center;">Andy ran right into the run connect to his stall. He raised his head and gave a loud whinny that shook his body. He loved being able to go outside. For the next 2 weeks I did nothing to him but gain his trust. I felt terrible he was still in the heavy blanket and halter, but I didn't want him to fear me. By the end of the 2 weeks Andy would nicker whenever I walked in the barn. I decided it was time to remove his blanket and halter. I gave Andy a light sedative so he would stand quietly. I cut the twine and realized it was stuck to his skin. I ended up having to cut it into about 6 prices, I then pealed it off if Andy. He was covered in quarter sized welts. Raw, raised open tissue from wearing a blanket for who knows how long. I then moved to Andy's halter. After a little bit of trying I was able to unbuckle it and slide if if his face. When he was still a bit sleepy I rubbed some salve on his welts and on the rub mark across his nose. Twice a day for a month I would rub salve on Andy's wounds, towards the end he would let me go in the stall with him to do it. I was gaining his trust. That thought made me grin. After his wounds had healed, I shifted my focus to cleaning him. I had gained enough trust to place a very loose halter on him and lead him to his run out. I had drug a hose out to his pen and a curry comb, complete with some soap. I started to bathe him. Andy LOVED it, he would stretch out his neck and too lip. Close his eyes and rest a foot. It was definitely the highlight of both of our days. Everyday Andy's true coat came closer into view. Everyday a layer of grime was removed. One day I lead him back to his stall after a bathing session and dryer him off. I then finished our routine with a thorough grooming. I soon realized after brushing Andy, j had gotten to his true coat. He was a shiny Chestnut. The color of a copper penny. I told him over and over how handsome he looked. I couldn't believe after all this time, I now had a Happy, healthy, clean and wound free horse.
