Oh girl good luck. I am rooting for you but PONs will have you feeling like that one pic of Ben Affleck smoking. Way more fun than SH tho
I do have some advice, but it's a little controversial. My advice would be to never sacrifice height for the "perfect" match. Honestly, throw everything you know about matching out the window. The fuck it mentality is a defining quality of most PON breeders. And it works too, it's gotten me this far. Matching is a player designed strategy and is a lot more up in the air than most players want to admit IMO. At the end of the day, RF is judge, jury and executioner.
Also, if you're dedicated to only breeding PONS, just get rid of the SH PON rejects (I like to call them "honourary PONs"). Let them go, let them GO. They'll do you no favours just get rid of them. They'll slowly takeover your barns and you'll be overrun with a bunch of short SH which are so hard to brood out. They're fine in the beginning, especially these days since we have better short studs to choose from you can even squeeze PONs outta them. But once you start breeding better PON mares get them gone ASAP. You'll feel so free I promise lmao. You'll also be able to dedicate all your resources to your PON mares, even if they're a little weaker than the "honourary PONs" they're shorter and that's what's important here. Keep at it and the PONs will get stronger over time, it's a long process that'll require a healthy amount of spite.
Jumping back to that first point I made about never sacrificing height, be REALLY strict about the height of the studs you use. Luckily, we've got a lot more short options than we did a year ago. Honestly, if the match isn't 100% perfect but it's the shortest you can get, take it over a perfect but taller match. If you keep taking those "perfect" but taller matches you'll never actually breed any PONs, speaking from experience.
The height medallion? Never even used it. It sounds great in theory but I'll always use a stat boost breeding item or a filly straw. It's kinda not worth it tbh Edited at August 2, 2022 06:40 PM by Mediterranean

Definitely shoot me a PM, one thing I'm never out of is short mares. Like, I got em coming out of my ears for all the size of the gig I've got going. I've got a few broods you can have next RO and a Tango straw if you want it :)

Hi - PON breeder here! <3 I'm very heavy into carefully matching, but I only breed to PON studs. I don't mind using a low LB stud if they're giving me the perfect training match + a short height. It really comes down to what works for you, along with a pinch of luck! I will say - don't be afraid to start out with an EEP or EEE mare if she has good training and is short. My first was an EEP, who I then bred an EEE from, then a WEE from that mare, and now finally a WWE. My biggest piece of advice is to sell/free range hard and ruthlessly. I don't have any patience for ponies down anything in wk 5.

First off, please feel free to PM with any questions or if there is any other way I can help! As has been echoed, PON are picky little creatures. Contrary to what other players are saying, I have found that it's more effective to use higher LB stallion and then a minus height medallion rather than items. With that being said, the max height I'll breed to is 16.1hh and that's only if that mare is under 13.3hh. Because even breeding PON x PON doesn't gurentee you a PON example A . And as others are saying, I'd keep your PON herd small. Heavily preferance quality over quantity. Good luck!
