I personally have a show barn and then a barn for my pretty ones (literally just X's but still) and it works because the show horses support my color addiction

It depends on what you're working towards and what you're starting with. Your minimum ratings tend to go up over time as your herd improves, especially if you're breeding AD. If you're starting fresh, PPP is easy enough.
