Plants don’t add bacteria but they do consume some of the toxins

@Em, that's a good idea. Do the plants add bacteria too?

Beneficial bacteria can be hit or miss I’ve heard but I personally have had good results with it. If you can steal some established filter media from someone that boosts it too

If you add beneficial bacteria which you can get at pet stores it can make it faster :)

With cycling though you have to take into account a brand new fresh tank can run forever but unless something is put into the system, it will never be cycled because the beneficial bacteria doesn't have anything to feed on

Yeah I did have issues with nitrite for months myself thinking back

@Zz, just a month is nothing. I can do that. My research says 10-12 weeks which is like 3 months!

Well if you are wanting just one, a betta is the way to go. They are super friendly and personable and very easy to care for

I second the research. Specifically research the nitrogen cycle. Running it for A week isn’t enough usually. Mine took a month

I think I am just scared of having multiple fish vs just one.

I had them breed back when I had a large angelfish tank lol of course the angels ate the eggs

I would just say overall ALWAYS do your research! Every fish needs something different such as tank size, food. etc. Also some fish don't get along with others. :) Plus what works for one person might not work for another.

Corys are cute but they theyre bottom dwelling, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have something else to hang in the middle

No they are small. You can even get pygmy ones which are really tiny
Hummingbird Meadows
09:13:28 Bird
@Angels, don't they need bigger tanks though?
Insignia Elites
09:13:25 Em
@bird yes! they scavenge the substrate for food! But watching them breed is really inserting! Mine do every so often but the eggs always get eaten. They are considered a bottom dweller :)

I have been recently riding a semi retired hunter/jumper named Golden Eye(I believe it is due to her buckskin coat, but not 100% sure because she was free) I’ve been wanting to start jumping for a while and my mom said I can once I get a XC vest. I want to get Golden Eye matching a matching saddle pad, polos and maybe a bonnet(still undecided on the bonnet) and the colors I were thinking were burgundy or forest green, and depending on the color it could come in glitter if I buy from somewhere other than Dover. Thoughts please? She’s a buckskin so I want what will watch the best.

I quite like Hunter Green, its darker than forest green and personally I think darker colours look smarter.

If it was me, I'd refrain from the glitter. I heard a trainer once talk about this, he said that they end up looking like four legged disco balls if you over do it with the diamonds and glitter.

I think it's best to go with what you like best, or otherwise you're going to get people like me who don't share your taste and may deter you from buying what you like best. Don't listen to people's opinions.

I would go for the glitter if i were you. But thats just me. Im training to barrel race so for us it's the more bling the better.

I also like hunter green. It's my color for my chestnut and its became one of my favorite colors :) I'd say definitely no glitter though.

Glitter is fun for at home but not out competing

I, personally, would deck out a buckskin in black to match the horse's points. Black goes with anything, so you could put a splash of color on yourself if you felt like it. Plus jumping is very formal and conservative. The only type of competition in the horse world that's more straight-laced is dressage.

I think that Hunters is there with dressage.

After further investigation, she’s actually a buckskin dun(the only difference is the dorsal stripe) so black, burgundy or hunter green are going to be my go to’s. Thank you all for the help
