I still name them...thought I'd even keep track of lines and give mares 'surnames' but well it takes more than I have so might limit that to W horses only

Green, not really this year, but I got enough to replace my retired girls and some I culled. I'm just waiting for RP now to cull again :) I have no ebs and no room really to breed anymore. I'm thinking of downsizing my stock again

So I've subtracted my rider fees and hay and I've make 127k in profit this week. My geldings are now exempted from the cull 🙃

I've been on HEE for a long time, and I've accumulated numerous EEE horses. However, even when I breed decent matches with fairly good training on both sides, my horses aren't improving quality-wise :( The foals I breed seem to train poorly. I had an EEE colt level up 4 in week 4 for the first time ever, and then he only leveled up in two traits on week 8. Then, I bred my first EWE ever out of a pretty nice match, and she didn't level up at all for week 4 and is down 2 in week 5! I wouldn't have imagined this kind of training for her. Do I just have awful luck? I'm considering selling all of my stock and just focusing on showing and breeding show horses for a while. When I have a really good showing program and plenty of ebs, maybe I can use straws and quality broods to start over with my stock. Does anyone have any advice?

I would 100% do showing and getting broods/straws :)
At first I was just buying random EEE mares and was going nowhere until I got premium and started getting outside broods and straws.
.
Selling your stock would most likely give you a nice kickstart since broods and straws can cost a pretty penny

Hello,
I don't really have much advice.. but, I wanted to let you know that you're not alone. I too feel the same way and I been on the game for almost 9 years. I remember when EEEs was really big, it took me forever, like 3-4years to finally start getting EEEs and fairly alow every time I bred (without spending huge on ABLBs and LB studs and straws) Then I stopped ratings and focused on my colors like I have been doing since day 1 on joining and then when I come back, WWWs are the new deal. I at times feel just like you. I have gotten back into ratings and starting with Xs since Y127 and I do pretty well, and I have probbaly bred 10 or so EEEs since then.... but just like you. I am doing everything to match my horses well, keep the ones that train well and I have spent millions on top ABLB matches of 300k-500k plus almost every season. I try to get replicale straws and I never get anything good. I also feel my luck sucks.... and I been getting to the point I want to give up myself. I been brooding out my EEE, EEW, EWE mares, or trying too but lately no one even wants to brood to them or even buy age 4 EEEs if it's anything over 50k. Past few months, I keep getting PPPs with good WWW, or W combo matches, spending loads on ebs. I have been blessed to get 2 EEW and 1 EWE but, Just know you are not alone <3 I am sending all the best luck and wishes your way that you are able to get a good WWW rating or any rating your hoping to achieve! You are doing good and I wis you the BEST week <3

My biggest advice is broods. My stable floundered since I joined up until Raine was born when I decided to use broods. She was my first EWW and she was fully from outside stock. Now I'm finally bringing in more Ws and good training, even though I only used one brood. So breed from ABLB horses, use broods, and be patient! You might want to look at some of your stock to cull, as even if you're breeding EEEs from EEEs they might not improve generation to generation. My EWW who's weak in Int threw an EWW who's also weak in Int despite the stud being up Int w7 AND using an int glass.
Just keep plugging away and try to get yourself a WW brood!

Yes!! Build that gelding army ASAP. And just spend a couple of months doing pure showing. I'm a firm believer that anyone can breed a WWW, the hardest part is having the finances to do so. I always recommend to wait until your stable is financially stable enough before you start getting into breeding ratings, that way you can afford better broods, the best studs and breeding items. It'll also mean you'll recover more quickly if your matches flop. The rest is in god's hands lmao
Edit: also wanted to add that I think it's really important to acknowledge that you can give yourself the best possible odds to breed higher ratings, but at the end of the day it's really down to winning the RF lottery. So what you breed is no reflection of how good of a player you are, I'm shite and I'm doing okay. Like seriously, I'm a bit of an idiot. All you need is a some good luck. If you're finding that you're fresh outta luck lately, then definitely take a break from breeding, that's what I did too :)

This is exactly how my PONs took off. I got one good brood and got extremely lucky. Once you start affording the good broods, the good studs and the breeding items and put it all together for the best matches, the rest is just pure luck. You can do this, don't be too disheartened :)

You are all so sweet, thank you so much for all of your advice! <3 I'm glad to know I'm not alone, and it's good to read about some of your successes. I think I will do just that, I will sell all of my breeding stock and focus on showing only so that I can recover more easily from future breeding seasons!

Breeding is just a roll of the dice, a gamble, even when you sven, spend thousands on top ABLB stock, if the dice rolls the wrong way, you get crap, sadly most of us get bad rolls a lot.
