I'd recommend checking Brandon Sanderson, his world building is perfection.
While this is a US based world I wholeheartedly 1000% recommend the Kate Daniels series by Illona Andrews. This is one of my favourite series of all time.

Ooh will do. Any specific books of Sanderson you'd recommend over the others, or are they all good?

I finished the Throne of Glass series recently (picked up the first book in 8th grade and then completely ignored it for three years because I didn't particularly like the first book). It was a pretty good series suspense-wise, but there were some parts of it that were a no for me. If I hadn't already been pretty invested in finishing the series, I wouldn't've. The plot kept doing complete 180's and the ending wasn't really... satisfying? And I've read other books of the author's and she does tend to write really strong female main characters, there are some things about her particular brand of fantasy that I really don't like. ~ On the other hand, Laini Taylor's trilogy (Daughter of Smoke and Bone) is really well written and though I'm not a huge fan of third person I love the books. I also read the An Ember in the Ashes series about a year ago and the whole thing is just <3 All three of the above series are fantasy. Daughter of Smoke and Bone is set in pretty much present-day earth (with a twist, of course there's a twist). Both DOSAB and TOG have other dimensions, while AEITA does not- and TOG and AEITA are set in a pretty much completely different world. All three have badass female characters.

I know right! I just saw it!!! I'm trying not to get super hyped because film adaptations can go awry, but I'm already soo excited, 😆 they say it'll be on their in April. I will definitely be trying to do a Netflix Party with my friends on this. (Some forceful shoving may be involved lol..a few of my peeps have read the series so I'm sure they're stoked as well!)

It's times like theses that I wish we could do a multi-person game mail chat, so that we didn't clog up this forum, but oh well. ---- Edit: time to look up the cast (I think I started to look them up but didn't finish last time I heard news) Edited at December 17, 2020 01:11 PM by Shadow Woods
