Amber got off the bed slowly and approached the boy and reached out her hand, not to grab his or touch him but to close the door so he couldn't leave. "Stay" she said with a worried face

He sighed. "Fine," he muttered. He turned and flopped down onto the bed, already getting bored. But he was starting to hurt like hell, so he figured he could stay for a while, at least. I can always sneak out tonight, before anything bad happens.

"Alright Amber I have other patients to tend to..want to help?" Amber's face lit up when the doctor asked her "yes!" She said excitedly. They left the room and Amber poked her head around the door "stay" she said sternly to the boy while beckoning a nurse to stay with him

"Yeah, yeah," he muttered. After a few minutes of boredom, he found a roll of...something that was bouncy. He threw it at the wall and it bounced back and he caught it. He did it over and over again until he wore himself down. He set the thing down and fell back onto the bed and passed out.

Amber went a did rounds with the doctor, helping everyone and listening to the older patients rant with a smile on her face to be polite. She went back to the boys room and gave the nurse a thumbs up with a quizzed face and the nurses returned the thumbs up with a smile.

Sage woke up after a while and rolled over onto his side with a grunt. He was still in a lot of pain, but he healed relatively quickly, and the whips marks had already faded. The worst pain was in his side, where his ribs had taken a beating and he had been shot, and his chest where they had burned him. He sighed and stared out the window, bored again, but he didn't feel well enough to get up.

Amber returned to the room when there was no more patients to be looked after for the moment and sat in the chair looking at the boy. "better?" Amber looked at the nurse. The nurse looked up from the paperwork "huh?" She said confused. "Boy" Amber pointed at him "better?" The nurse released what she was saying "oh right his rib is broken and his burn wound is very severe..do you know how he got it?" Amber nodded "yes..bad men" the nurse nodded "ah ok, I won't ask anymore" the nurse knew nothing could be done about it because he was a street boy, the police wouldn't care

Sage sat up and looked at the girl and nurse. "A bunch of assholes grabbed us off the street for no apparent reason." He shrugged. "Nothing unusual." He rubbed the back of his neck where the chain collar had dug into his skin. He looked at the girl and frowned. "What's your name? I'm tired of calling you 'the girl'," he muttered.

Amber just looked the boy up and down and looked at the nurse for reassurance "it's alright, tell him" she told her. "Amber" she said eventually -I hate that I can't say what I'm actually thinking or feeling! I can say it in my mind so why don't I have the words to actually say it?! Ugh this is so frustrating! Ambers expression didn't change at all when she told him her name, she looked like she could kill him in a split second

He shrugged. "k." The nurse sighed. "What's your name, boy," she asked him. He thought for a moment before muttering, "Sage." After a moment he grunted. "I think." If he was being honest, he hadn't ever actually heard his name used - his parents called him rat most often, and on the streets he didn't really tell anyone his name. The girl looked like she was planning to kill him, which made telling her his name more difficult than usual, but he was confident that if she tried anything he could beat her and be gone.
