"Soften your face dear, your safe and sound here" the nurse chuckled. Amber took the scowl of her face but kept a straight one instead "Sage?..." she looked at him again "Sage..? Hurt" The nurse looked at Amber "Sage hurt you?" Amber shuck her head "no! Sage hurt!?". The nurse chuckled "I know Sage is hurt silly" Amber huffed and folded her arms. The doctor walked in after hearing the conversation outside "Full sentences Amber! Full sentences!" He laughed. Amber pulled a face at him. She looked at Sage directly this time "you hurt?"
the doctor chuckled again "ahh we'll get there some day..some day" he walked off again

Sage raised an eyebrow at Amber. "You did see me back with those people, right? You know I'm hurt." He shrugged. "I'm always hurt. This is nothing new." He looked over at the doctor with a scowl. The nurse might have said they were safe, but he didn't believe her. "When can I leave?"

Amber shrugged and looked at the floor. The nurses sighed at her. "You can leave in a minimum of two days" she got up to leave "I will get some food..anything you want in particular?" She asked both of them.

Amber looked up briefly with a smile appearing on her face. The nurse looked at her and shuck her head laughing "I needn't have asked you! Sage what would you like to eat? And no it won't be hospital food, you need proper food"

Sage shrugged. "Eh, I'll eat anything." It was true - he was used to digging trash out of the dumpsters or grabbing the rats that ran through the alleyways and eating them if he got lucky.

The nurse gave a slight nod "alright then, stay out you two until I get back!" The nurse went to get food.

Amber sat slumped in the chair staring at the door.

The nurse eventually came back and gave Amber a chicken legend sandwich with BBQ sauce, curly fries, a large coke and a McFlurry from McDonald's and she gave Sage a Sunday roast dinner from the local Deli and a bottle of coke.

"Enjoy!" She said with a smile. Amber tucked into her food

Sage started eating and it was actually really good. He managed to eat about a quarter of the dinner and drank half of the coke before he was full. He flopped back onto the bed with a grunt and stared at the ceiling, bored.

Amber looked up after nearly devouring all of hers "keep" she said looking at Sage, She gestured towards his plate of food "keep....for....later?" She said confused, wondering if she said it right

He glanced over at the girl and grunted in agreement. "I'm full," he muttered. He wasnt used to eating much, and this was a lot of food.

Amber nodded and kept her head bent. She sat up in the chair and let out a belch. She looked at at the boy in astonishment and covered her mouth with her hands "sorry" she mumbled, red face with embarrassment

He shrugged. "Burping is literally part of life. Dont sweat it. I've seen and heard too many fucked up things to care if someone burps." The girls face was amusing though.
