So i was skating around in an empty costco parking lot when this guy drives up to me and tells me not to skate near the doors/carts (the smoother surface where everyone lines up) so i just said okay and left. I had been skating for HOURS before he came up to me and he was sitting in the parking lot for a long time so i thought that was super weird but anyways
He said he was security but i don't see how me skateboarding was a security issue? People in general do not like skateboarders and that i get but i wasn't vandalizing or destroying property so any idea why he told me not to skate there? He was creeping up beside me super slowly and i was so nervous i was about to smash my board against his car until he rolled down his window and started talking to me. I got major creep vibes and will be sticking to Walmart from now on. Thanks for nothing creepy costco guy :/
OH also it was at night, costco was basically empty it was just me, him, and a couple other cars. Edited at January 18, 2021 12:16 AM by Hexada Equestrian

I'd like to just point out that you skating on someone else's property would be a liability for them if you got hurt. When I worked at store we would frequently have to ask people not to ride their bikes or skateboard in our parking lot just because of the liability.

Yeah, I thought that was why he talked to me at first too but he specifically told me to keep away from the well lit, smooth surface near the entrance and had no problem with me skating deeper into the lot which is why it was kind of unsettling. Anyways, it's been a couple months now and I come back to skate there with friends every now and then and never saw him since that incident so oh well.

From a security stand point if he did work security and saw that he would approached you immeditately and spoken with you. You wouldn't have gotten a creep factor from a secuirty officer. If he was directing you to another area that wasn't as well lit as smooth surfaced is a big red flag for me. I doubt he worked for Costo and I seriously doubt he was security. No security officer would tell you to skate elsewhere on property that was unsafe. If management didn't want skaters the security officer would have said you have to leave the primisses, and give you a time frame before calling the police to escort you off for trespassing.

Stay safe out there, there are many situations that can put you in danger. In this case, I don't think that he was real security officer. A real one would escort you off Costco for trespassing or something, not ask you skate somewhere darker and deeper. It seems like he wanted to get you somewhere where no one could really spot you, since he wanted to get you away from the "well - lit " area. This is just so creepy. I hope you are okay! <3.
