We purchased a mare from our neighbors who have cutting horses today. She is a 5 yo mare by One Time Royalty. While she is a trained cutter, she is also kinda psycho and dangerous right now as she was not getting the proper work or attention when they made the move here. So she is a huge work in progress. However, she's super cute and athletic so I'm hoping she could maybe make me a good amateur horse :)

Gigi (the mare above) has been absolutely super for me! She's incredibly smart which has proven to be both good and bad haha. She works super well on the flat but since she's never been made do anything she can really challenge me. For example, it took me 2 days and a lot of patience to even walk her over poles on the ground, now because she was scared just because she was being a brat lol but she finally gave in and all was good! I'm so so in love with her and all of her quirks. She's the horse I've been needing for years and never knew until I got her.

Cattlework is so fun! Especially when you have a horse that loves their job. My mare and I competed in OHSET (Oregon High School Equestrian Teams) and we tried team penning just for fun. Boy, did I find out that cows were her jam! I ended up learning that her stud was a pretty serious cutter, hence why she was always hyped about cows.

How cool!!! I'd love to do some team penning with Gigi but I honestly don't think we have any around here strangely enough

I'll be showing Catmerize (Virgil) next month for 2 days at a show that runs concurrent with the NCHA Summer Spectacular. Very excited!

Gigi has been doing insanely well in both her English and western training!
And at work we're getting ready for a bunch of shows including the Paint Horse Worlds and the NCHA Summer Spectacular. The USCHA is taking forever with my membership so I haven't been able to do my show entry yet :/

My bosses were friends of the family beforehand but if you're looking into the cowhorse industry specifically reach out! Send emails, put up flyers at shows. They're always looking for help, especially if you're willing to travel. I see openings on the Instagram pages I follow all the time as well. The industry is so insanely friendly don't be afraid to send an email or call asking if they are looking for anyone to help out :)
