Major win tonight and I have to share it with someone!

I'm house-sitting with two dogs, one is my instant-best-friend, absolute best pup and so eager to play and train and cuddle.

The other has been standoffish all week and unwilling to accept my presence in her life - glare even when I offer her choice chicken meat. (Nothing bad or malicious, just uncomfortable with anyone other than immediate family).
- She jumped on the bed with me!!! She chose to leave her room of comfort and her spots, to actually be with me (and the snuggle pup)!
I'm so excited but trying to play cool.

The setting sun disappeared behind the mountains, and not long after did the moon replace it. The dark shadows of the night were like wormholes ready to engulf anyone. Their fingers curled at the edge of the alleyways, ready to snatch anyone up that dares to even come close to it. Such things like this can't happen, or can they?

The grunting of a person was heard in a somewhat lit alleyway. A man was on the ground as another figure hovered above him. The man gritted his teeth in pain as he tried to move away but the person wasn't going to have it. They grabbed the man by the collar of his fancy buttoned up blue shirt and slammed him against the brick wall, their hand not leaving his shirt.

It was quiet for a couple of moments before the person decided to speak. "Who sent you?" The voice came out feminine and had a silky tone to it, except for the harsh venom that was heard. Clearly, she wasn't very happy with the man.

"I can't say." He mumbled lowly.

Oh, that was not a good answer to tell her. She tilted her head to the side slightly and he could see the grin that was plastered onto her lips. "Really now?" Her face moved towards him just an inch. "Do I need to find out the hard way? Or would you like me to actually be nice?" She asked as her grip shifted to a slightly tighter one.

"Giving me a choice, are we? How pitiful coming from someone who seems so sweet." He sneered as his hand whipped up and grabbed her forearm.

She frowned and jerked him forward, her lips brushing against his ear as she spoke. "I may look sweet, but I am just as bad as the Devil." She flicked her free hand and a knife appeared in it, the moonlight glistening off the blade. "Now, are we going to go the easy or hard way?" She asked as she ran the blade against his cheekbone.

He hummed like he didn't realize that he was about to get beaten until he gives her an answer. It's like he didn’t care about what was going to happen to him. She looked down his body as she waited to see if he was going to give her an answer. She wasn't checking him out. Rather, she was looking for any signs that she could use against him to get what she wants. She wasn't leaving him till he told her who sent him. Once she saw the ring on his finger, she knew the perfect way to get to him.

"It seems I will have to go the hard way." She took the tip of the knife and let it drag against his collarbone, watching as blood trickled out of the small gash. She did the same thing to his cheekbone until she knew he wouldn't say anything without some more motivation. "It seems that I am going to have to pay a visit to your family, won't I? They will surely give me the answers to what I want as I am going to guess that your wife won't want anything to happen to your children." When she saw him stiffen at the word of his children, she knew that she hit a spot in him. "Now, I am going to ask you once more before I lose my patience, who sent you?"

When he seemed to still not want to tell her, she let a sigh leave her lips. She has given him many chances for him to tell her, but it seems he won't even budge a muscle. His family was the last straw and it seemed to barely even make a dent in having him tell her. Well, it seems she will have to find his family to go through with her threat.

He whispered something so low that she couldn't hear it. "What was that?" She asked, hoping that it was the name she was looking for.

He lifted his head up some, his eyes trying to lock onto hers, but he couldn't find it in the shadow that was covering her face. "I said, Enzo. Enzo is the one who sent me." She dropped him and watched as he crumbled to the ground.

She stepped away from him, her face lifting to look at the sky. Now you could see what she looked like more clearly without the shadow covering her. Her long red hair went down her back in loose curls, stopping just above her waist. Her ocean blue eyes seemed to hold lose and anger in them, perhaps even darkness. She had a petite figure, but many knew she worked to get her body the way she wanted it to look. Her soft caramel skin looked gorgeous on her and made her eyes pop out a bit more.

She tapped her fingertips against her chin as she thought, her eyes not leaving a certain spot on the brick wall. She saw a movement out of the corner of her eye and knew that the man was trying to escape. "I'm not done with you. I would stay unless you want to make it worse for yourself." She stated as she turned to face the man. She was only met with the barrel of a gun pointed at her face. "And you made it worse for yourself." She shook her head. Why were mortals always so stupid?

He pulled the hammer down as he didn't budge to put it down. "You threatened my family. I have every right to do anything I want."

She rolled her eyes as she shifted her weight onto one leg. "It was the only way for you to even say anything, you idiot. I wasn't even going to threaten them at all. I was going to act like a sweet person and talk to them about what you did as your profession. I am sure they would believe me if I said I was an FBI under investigation about the murders going on at your corporation."

His frowned deepened slightly but he slowly let the hammer of the gun back down. "You weren't going to hurt my family?" He asked skeptically.

"Uh, no. As I said, I needed you to talk." She pinched the bridge of her nose as this was ridiculous that she had to explain all of this to him. "On more important terms, how the heck do you even know who Enzo is?"

He put the gun away in his jacket, showing her that he wasn't going to try anything funny. Well, with the gun he wasn't. He might decide to use boxing or whatever if it had to come to that. "He appeared one day and asked if I wanted to do him a favor. He said he was going to pay me big bucks if I could spy on you for him." He explained simply, shrugging his shoulders slightly. "I thought it was because you were a part of some corporation or whatever that he is going against but that seems to not be the answer."

She hummed as it seems like something Enzo would do to get his way with anything. "Why would he be interested in you?"

"I don't know. He said that you knew who Selene, whoever that is, was and wanted to know what she was up to. He didn’t give me anything else after that."

Yep, he was a dumb one. "You must've not heard him right, sir." She exaggerated. This man probably just chose what he wanted to hear. "You were looking at her the whole time. I'm Selene. Surprise." She sarcastically stated as she did jazz hands. "Also. I wouldn't have made the deal with him." She turned on her heels and started to walk away.

"Wait!" She stopped at his voice and turned her head slightly to let him know she was listening. "Why do you say that?"

A small smile curled onto her lips. "Well, Mr. Black, it means that you are no longer safe. When he finds out that you told me everything, he will come after you and your family. He is not one to mess with and I say that with heavy venom. If you want to try and survive until I find him, I suggest you relocate before he finds you. That's the best advice I can give you."

"How do you know my name?" He asked, startled that she even knew it when he didn't tell her anything.

Her smile grew bigger as mortals were always so much fun. "Oh, darling, there is a lot that you don't know about. I suggest we keep it like that before you get into even deeper trouble than you are already in."

Before he was able to say more, she disappeared into the shadows. She watched as he was angered, perhaps even lost about what she just said. It was better that he didn't know anything about what is happening. If he knew anything, he will only have questions or even try to kill her. It is whatever he thought was the best way to deal with it. Besides, dragging him into it will only dig him deeper into the huge mess that he is in.

She turned on her heels and skipped gracefully away from him, her footsteps seeming to barely even touch the ground. She only came to a stop when she appeared at a slick black Dodge Charger. She got in the driver's seat and threw the car into gear before she was off. She glanced to the passenger side and rolled her eyes at the man who was sitting there with a stern look on his face. She was not going to be going into any detail or anything whatsoever about her actions towards the mortal man in the alleyway. There wasn't even a need to justify her actions to him anyways.

The man seemed to be wearing what looked like to be a butler's outfit. His short black hair was slicked back out of his face, showing it more clearly than it would if his hair wasn't gelled. His chocolate brown eyes watched every movement, but they showed nothing. Perhaps they showed a bit of pity towards her, but she wasn't sure if that is what it was. His frame was rather lean, but she knew that he had to be muscular with how much weight he can carry without breaking a sweat. His bronze skin defined his features perfectly and she wondered why she hasn't fallen for him. Right, it was because he was her butler and he wasn't her type, not that she had one.

"Say a word and I will only cut your tongue out." She threatened as she turned down a dirt road not far from where she just was. "As much as I love you speaking to me, I forbid you to talk."

With that being said, none of them said anything once they stopped in front of a log cabin surrounded by pine trees. A barn was off to the side as well as a large area for what seemed to be for horses. They both got out of the car and she went in like it was her house. It really wasn't but she honestly didn't care. She kept the lights off as if she was going to be surprising the person who was going to be home. She clapped her hands together as she sat down on the couch and propped her feet up on the coffee table while her butler went to the kitchen to, most likely, cook dinner. She leaned her head back and let a content sigh leave her lips. As she waits for the said person to come home, she may as well take a small nap. She closed her eyes and soon the darkness of her dreams that she never has engulfs her. She can't complain though as she thought dreams were completely overrated.

Yay, nah, bleh? It is a new story I might start. Wondering what y'all think! Write comments, thoughts, whatever! Title might get changed as I am not content with it.

Crash... Bang... Creak...

Silence was all that was heard, and a sleeping Selene was still on the couch. It was like she didn't hear any of the noises that seem to come from the front door and the kitchen. A figure came from the kitchen, it's movements almost cat-like. They moved so slowly and softly that it was hard to make out who or what it could be. Just as they were about to pounce onto Selene, a gun was already pointed towards their heart, ready to fire if he made another move.

She opened one eye and peeked over at the figure that was going to pounce her like she was their prey. "So nice that you finally decided to join us." She stated as she sat up on the couch. "Do be a doll and turn the light on. I can barely see you in this dark room."

She watched as the figure slouched over towards the wall. It seemed a bit depressed that it didn't get to pounce on her. She thought it was better that they didn't, or they mightÂ’ve gotten injured. People don't get to jump her to only get away with it.

The figure turned the lights on with a click, having it fill the room with a soft yellow hue. A man turned his lean six-foot-one frame towards her with a small smile dancing on his lips. His short midnight black hair was a bit messy, yet he looked good in it. His forest green eyes held happiness, perhaps even a bit of mischievousness. His rough, tanned skin looked nice on him. Though he may look handsome, he wasn't for her.

"I am quite surprised that the famous Selene is actually visiting me for once." He teased as he approached her slowly.

She rolled her eyes and threw the gun onto the table in front of her. "Very funny. I almost forgot how awful you can be with compliments." She grumbled as she stood up. She stretched her arms above her head and sighed in content at the muscles popping in her back.

"Ouch, that hurts." He faked pouted before they both burst into laughter. Once he caught his breath, he spoke again. "But really, what are you doing here?" He asked with all seriousness. All his laughter and happiness from earlier was long gone now. He knew something was up whenever she was here and the butler was preparing a meal for him.

She sighed as she sat back down, patting the spot next to her. He obeyed, and she snickered under her breathing, thinking about what good dog he was for listening to her. "Nothing is wrong." She lied smoothly, but she knew that he would see right through it.

"Selene." He warned. See, she told you, didn't she?

She scratched the back of her neck as she glanced away from him. She hated telling him things as he was a mortal and he could get hurt. Scratch that. He already has gotten hurt and that is why she hates telling him things as she knew he will want to help. "It seems that Enzo has people spying on me."

He swore under his breath before she heard his fist slam onto the table. She jumped at the noise and turned her head to face him. "How long?"

Oh, that was one question she didn't ask Mr. Lock. That was probably one of the most important ones as well. "Uh, no clue." She hid the fact that she talked to one of them as well.

"Let me guess, you only found out because you found one spying on you?" Damn, he was good. He just knew everything, didn't he? It was like he had supersonic ears or something.

"Yep!" She said as she popped the 'p'. "Blackwood didn't like that I decided to mess around with him. It was either kill him or just mess with him to get the answers that I needed. I choose to mess around with him." She shrugged her shoulders.

He shook his head at her slightly. "You're supposed to be an Angel who protects them from harm, Selene. Not something who harms humans just to have them get an answer out of them quickly."

She frowned at him before grabbing the pillow that was next to her and whacked him with it. "Archangel." She corrected as she whacked him with the pillow again. "And I honestly don't care." She then tilted her head to the side as she notices that his dark blue t-shirt was slightly darkened in the shoulder area. "What is that?" She asked as she motioned with her hand towards his shoulder.

"You should care. Others are going to start looking down on you for your deeds towards the humans." He always reminded her of the stupidest things when he wants to avoid something. It's like he didn't even hear her, which isn't a surprise to her.

She got up from the couch and stood in front of him with her hands on her hips. "Zeke Joseph Carter, you better tell me what you did to your shoulder before I call your mother." When he still didn't budge to tell her what it was, she narrowed her eyes into cat slits. "You know I will call your mother, so don't tempt me." She sassed.

He sighed as he knew he wasn't going to get away with it and because he didn't need her to call his mother. "Well, the spies you speak about kind of found me and jumped me?" He said as if it were a question.

She snarled as she hated when her enemy touches things that mean the most to her. "Crap is going down now! He better be prepared for what is going to come his way. Blackwood, we are leaving!" She called her butler who is in the kitchen. "Fix yourself up before you get blood everywhere." She turned on her heels and grabbed her gun off the table before she walked towards the door.

"Selene, you are-"

She cut him off as she hates him telling her what she can and can't do. "Zeke save it. Enzo has messed with me long enough. He took my wings and hurt you as well, my friend. He deserves to be punished and I will not let you stop me from doing what I need to. Besides, you can't even stop me as you are a mortal and I am an Archangel. Any more questions?" When he said nothing, she bobbed her head once before opening the door. "Great. Remember to clean the wound so it doesn't get infected. I may still call your mom to have her come and take care of you as she is a nurse." She moved through the door with Blackwood following her.

"Do you think it is necessary to go after Enzo?" He asked her as they got into the car. "He is more powerful than you and I don't want to see you get hurt." Total lie.

She rolled her eyes as she threw the car into gear and drove away from the house. "That is why you are going to tell me everything about him to me. That is why you are still alive in the first place as you have valuable information that is important to me." She murmured as she turned onto the main road.

"How many times do I have to prove to you that I am not going to try and hurt you anymore?" He asked, irritated that she still didn't trust him. "It has been six months-"

"Six months too short. You might still be planning something behind my back and I am not chancing it. You are bound to me as my servant due to the spell that I put on the both of us. Now, I suggest you tell me some things about him before I decide to kill you instead."

"I'm forbidden from saying anything. Either way, I am going to die if I say anything and I rather stay loyal to my master than share anything with such a-"

"I wouldn't say anymore if you would like to keep your tongue." She hissed to him, silencing him like he was a child who wasn't going to get his candy. "Blackwood, I would really appreciate if you would tell me at least a little bit about him."

"My word still stands. I am only loyal to my one true master." He wasn't going to budge no matter what she does to him or what she says to threaten him.

She only shook her head in disappointment at his statement. This is not what she really needed today. Just one good day would be amazing. "Fine. You are getting fifty lashes when we get back." She only smirked when a simple modern home appeared before them. "Wait, we are already here. Seems your punishment is going to be a lot sooner than you thought it would be."

When she came to a stop a few feet away from the house, she had a bad feeling in her gut. It clawed its way through her stomach before going up her spine like sharp razors. Like she said, why can she never get a good day?

She took some cuffs out from the middle counsel before putting one on his wrist and the other onto the steering wheel. There was no way that she was going to have him intervene with what is going to happen. As she got out, her eyes glowed a soft blue as she looked to see if there was anything surrounding the outside of the house. Once she found nothing, she knew it must be in the house, whatever it is.

She slowly approached the front door before opening it quietly, making sure that the door didnÂ’t creak at the weight. Her eyes still glowed as she moved gracefully through the house, her footsteps barely making any noise. Before she was able to react to anything, she was pulled back by something wrapping around her body and throwing her to the floor. A groan of pain left her lips as she laid there. As much as she wanted to move, she really couldn't. Whoever is in the house knew how to trap an Archangel without breaking a sweat.

She looked down at the rope that was wrapped around her and instantly knew that Angel grace was covering it with the very light blue hue that glowed from it. It was not just any Angel grace. It was the grace of The First Angel and not many knew where it was hidden or that it weakens an Archangel's powers. The First Angel, as the name says, was the very first Angel's that were ever made and had power over all the other Angels. A number use to still be alive, but over time, they went extinct.

"I honestly didn't think it would be this easy to catch you, Selene." The masculine voice was all too familiar. "I thought you would put up more of a fight and pay more attention." He sighed from somewhere in the shadows where she couldn't see him without her powers. "What a pity really. I was excited about fighting you. I would've rather killed you before you could lay a punch or whatever on me though. I don't need you to touch my godly skin with your sinful poison."

She knew that voice from anywhere. It was the voice that she was dreading to hear but wanting to get giddy from it due to the thought of what she could do to him. It was the man who took everything from her that she cared about, besides Zeke. It was the man who is going to regret that he even tried to mess with her. He is the one who broke through her barrier at her home and ripped her wings off so many years ago. In the end, he is going to want to beg for mercy. Was she going to give it to him? Clearly not as he is not a creature that deserves to live anymore for the sinful deeds he has committed.

"Enzo."

Be prepared for tears...

"Enzo." Selene hissed through her gritted teeth. Her hands balled into fists behind her back. This was the last thing was expecting tonight.

"The one and only." He greeted from the darkness still. Why he didn't come out yet is a mystery to her. "Did you really think I wouldn't come after you found out about my spy?" He asked her.

She shrugged herself into a sitting position with her legs cross-crossed-applesauce. She glared in the direction she hears his voice coming from. "I don't know. You are a bit unpredictable sometimes." She grumbled as she twisted her arms. She hissed in pain as the rope dug into her flesh, tightening with each move she made. "Then again, I should've been prepared."

He clapped his hands as if applauding her after a great performance. "Well done. I am glad that I am unpredictable as that means I will be an advantage for me in the feature." He rumbled out.

He finally decided to turn the lights on in the house to only reveal himself. His ash blond hair fell to the edge of his ears, having it cover one of his eyes. He had one emerald green eye and she knew that the other was a blood red as she has seen it before. His eyes always held the lust to tear people apart. His frame seemed rather lean, but he was honestly strong, even without his powers trying to get an advantage on someone. His tanned skin defined him nicely, yet it made his eyes pop out and she didn't like that. It always made a chill go up her spine like icy fingers.

She rolled her eyes at him, her lip pulled over her teeth in a sneer. "Not going to kill me? How interesting as I thought you would want to end this all here and now, so I don't come after you later." She was clearly mocking him, and she was having a bit of fun doing so.

His smile that he had on his pale lips turned into a frown. He was letting her words get to him and it might just cost her life. "I never said I wasn't going to kill you, Selene. I am actually going to teach you a lesson on what happens when you mess-"

Before he could finish his sentence, she spits into his face once he was close enough to her. "Torture me all you like but I am not going to tell you where she is." She hissed out between clenched teeth.

He wiped the spit off his face. He glared at her before grabbing her by the collar of her shirt and pulling her harshly towards him. This caused her whole body to jerk forward and her hair to fall into her face, covering it like a curtain. "You listen here you little piece of nothing." He hissed into her ear, causing her to go utterly quiet. "You are going to give her up or your little friend will die when he is least expecting it."

She knew then that Zeke was in danger and was dragged into all of this without her wanting him to be. As much as she didn't want Zeke to be dead, she can't give up any information about her. "Sorry, I still can't do that." She whispered lowly, trying so hard to not have her voice shake.

A grin appeared on his face all of the sudden before pushing her away. A chuckle left his lips as he walked around in a circle around her. "I see you have feelings for this certain mortal human. It seems I have hit a soft spot in you." His grin turned into a smug one as he now knew another thing that she cares about.

"Don't you dare touch him." She lashed out at him but he caught her by her throat. "I will end you if you do." She choked out as his grip on her throat was a bit too tight.

"I would love to see you try when you are even weaker without your wings that I ripped off your body." He dropped her to the ground and watched as she coughs and heaves for air. "I am going to go pay him a visit."

"NO!" She was too late as he already disappeared.

She struggled against the ropes even more but they kept cutting into her, causing her to stop as it wasn't going to be giving in anytime soon. This was not very good at all and she hated that he had something over her head. It made her feel weak and that she couldn't do anything to stop it.

After sitting on the floor in what seemed forever, he finally came back. He wasn't alone though. He brought Zeke with him. Zeke was struggling against the ropes that were tied behind him to keep his hands together. This was getting worse and worse as the minutes passed by.

Enzo threw Zeke down next to her and she instantly looked over at her friend, scanning his body to see if he was okay. "He didn't hurt you, did he?" She whispered to him, worry clearly seen in her eyes.

Zeke's eyes flashed from Enzo to her and he seemed worried about her than himself. "No. I'm fine... for now." He muttered under his breath to her.

"How sweet. Both of you are asking if one another is hurt." Enzo's smirk only enraged her further than she already was. "This is just so beautiful." His smile faded, and she knew he was all strict and business now. "Tell me where Jade is, Selene. If you do, I won't do anything to lover boy here. If you don't, well, you know what will happen."

She looked away from Enzo before she struggled to get up from the floor. She stood tall before him, her eyes hard as stone. "No." There was no way she was going to give Jade up like that, even if that meant losing her friend.

He grinned before he stepped around her, her eyes watching his every movement. He bent down and picked Zeke up by his bicep, pulling her friend against his chest. "Don't play games with me, Selene. You know that I hate it when you do that." He snapped his fingers and a knife appeared in his hands. He positioned it against Zeke's side, just above his hip. "Tell me where she is, Selene. I won't kill lover boy here if you tell me."

She glanced at Zeke, her eyes holding pain, but she said nothing. He shook his head, telling her to not give into Enzo's pitiful attempts to break her. He knew who they were talking about and why they had to keep it a secret. She finally made up her mind on what she was going to do and one of them wasn't going to like it.

"I am not going to say anything, Enzo. My words stand as is." She held her ground. Either way she went, she was losing something.

"I thought you would be smarter than that, Selene. It makes me very sad that you are being so stubborn and losing people you care about to protect Jade." He waved the knife in the air at her. "Oh well. I guess I kind of expected this from you." In a blink of an eye, the blade moved towards his side and plunged into his skin. A gasp left Zeke's lips before he fell to the hard floor, and she instantly regretted her decision. "We will meet again, Selene. You will give me what I want or the next person you care about is going to end up just as Zeke here. You know who that is." With that, he disappeared and the rope that was holding her fell to the ground.

She rushed over to her friend, her hands trembling as she hovered above his fallen body. Tears built in her eyes as her hands pressed against his side. She can't believe she just didn't give Jade up. "I'm so sorry, Zeke." She choked out, trying to hold her tears back. "I'm so sorry."

He reached up weakly and pressed his hand against her cheek, a small smile on his lips. "You did the right thing, Selene. It was for Jade's sake. If he found her, we both know what would happen." He whispered.

She knew his life was slipping between her fingers. She was not going to have it. She didn't want to lose one of the few people she cares for. The tears that she was holding back finally fell. "But I am losing you, Zeke. I-I just can't..." She couldn't finish as her sobs started to get in the way.

He winced in pain as he moved his body slightly, so he was laying on his back. He said nothing as he glanced at her, the light in his eyes fading slowly. "Stop blaming yourself. Knowing you, you are already beating yourself up for not doing anything about it." He watched as she moved closer, her hand still applying pressure to his wound. "There is no way you are going to be able to save me. Your powers are not strong enough to save me since you lost your wings." He whispered, his voice starting to fade as well.

"Zeke Joseph Carter, don't you dare die on me." She gritted out between her tightly clenched teeth. He was right though, about her powers. Usually she would be able to heal him, but her wings held most of her powers. They were weakened since she didn't have them. Now she can't save him, and she was dying on the inside that she couldn't save him.

He smiled at her that he used his full name. She only did that when she was sad, mad, or irritated with him for something that he has done. The same goes for the thought about her wanting him to tell her something that he is hiding.
