So, I started this when I was 8 or 9 in a google doc. And now I will be finishing it, like the young me wanted. Comment if you want more! I am also up to any criticism. But I know that my spacing is bad, lol. I want to be an author one day. I want to get better at writing any way I can. Trust me, I'll work on spacing.

Chapter 1, Part 1

I don’t remember much about my puphood. There was food, play. Mother. And that’s about it.
I remember dad was mean. But he wasn’t there very long. Mother was never the same. She would growl at me and my siblings whenever we got close.
I had four littermates. Blackout, my youngest brother, who was very shy, Susbreya, my oldest sister, who was quiet but had an air of dominance. There was also Enno, a kind but strong and dominant brother, and Haila, the sweetest and most kind hearted sibling.
One fateful day, we were all resting by the water when Haila stood up.
“I’ll go check on mom,” she yapped.
I lifted my head. Mom had been acting weird the last few days, not eating much and constantly sleeping.
“Go ahead.” Enno grunted, not opening his eyes from his perch on a sunny rock.
Haila trod away and I laid my head back down, shutting my eyes. A few seconds later, I heard a cry, “Mom!”
Susbreya bolted up, ears erect.
Blackout yelped. “What is it, Haila?”
I padded over to my littermate as she sagged down.
“M-mom…...she’s gone…” Haila sobbed.
Enno laid his ears back in shock.
Susbreya turned her head away and Blackout whimpered.
“It-it…...can’t be……” Enno yipped.
I looked toward him in surprise. I had never seen him cry. Blackout laid by Haila as Susbreya and I comforted Enno.
“We have to go.” he uttered through tears.
“What?” Blackout stood up.
“The coyotes will be here soon. We have to go.” Enno said again.
Susbreya nodded. “Enno’s right.”
Haila whined again. “No! We can’t leave mother….”
I padded over to her and rubbed her shoulder with mine. “It’s okay, Haila. We’ll be okay.” Haila buried her nose in her paws, falling silent.
“Come on.” Enno barked, turning away and starting to walk into the forest. Susbreya followed him without skipping a beat. I hesitated before nosing Haila up and walking after them along with Blackout. I lowered my head and stared at the ground, listening to the rhythm of our paws hitting the soil.
“You’re thinking about her, aren’t you?” Enno asked me softly. I looked up, surprised.
“Yes…...I miss her. Her before dad died…..”
Enno nodded. “I do, too. But she left us. And now, we have to fend for ourselves,”
I whimpered, Enno’s words hitting me like a stone.
“We will find a new pack and join,” he continued.
I suppressed a growl rising in my throat. He kept talking, but I didn’t hear. I was listening to a rustling noise in the bushes, when I smelled it.
“Bear!” I barked, right as a bear lumbered through the bushes, roaring.

Chapter 1, Part 2

Susbreya shot off along with Haila, while Enno turned on it and growled. I realised Blackout was still stand there, frozen in fear. “Move it!” I barked, butting him with my head. That snapped him out of it. He ran ahead. I started to escape as well, when I saw Enno sizing up the bear. That wretched skunk--! I thought as I snarled and shot toward my brother. Enno leapt up at the fearsome bear and I held my breath. The world seemed to pause as I watched the bear fling Enno away and saunter slowly toward me. I was snapped back as I felt something slam against me, shoving me just in time away from the bear’s claws. I scramble to my feet, looking back to see Blackout laying there, panting. He had deep claw marks on his side. Tears brimmed in my eyes. “Blackout!” I whined, but the bear stopped me from getting to my brother. It roared in my face, gnashing its teeth. I yelped and raced away, approaching Enno’s unconscious body. I nudged him, quickly flinging him on top of my back. I struggled to carry him, grabbing his scruff to help keep him in place. I ran through the woods, weaving between the trees. I could feel Enno slipping. I gritted my teeth, willing for me to escape safely. I paused to shift Enno back into position on my back and pricked my ears. Nothing. I heaved a sigh, running a bit farther before collapsing. Enno rolled off my back, limp on the forest floor. I stared over at him. “Enno?” I whispered again, padding up to him. No response. I whined, nudging him with my paw.
