Irene had this pure expression in her eyes. It was like she had never heard those words before. She was truly like a little child, naive to the world yet one who knows everything. She had that wiseness in her eyes yet her expressions made her seem naive. She laughed softly, her lips falling into a tiny smile. It was the first time she laughed in a long time, even if it was a little laugh. “I’m happy to hear that,” Her voice was oddly soothing. She lifted her somewhat warm hands, stroking the fabrics of the cloak he put back on her shoulders. “I have never worn anything this nice.” She whispered though it sounded like she was talking to herself. In her kingdom, commoners don’t wear the nicest things. They wore plain old clothes that aren’t made of the most comfortable cloth. It was truly frustrating to see everyone around there wearing colors that represent their powers. All kingdoms were different with how they treat the low ranking, but her Kingdom wasn’t very nice.

“Irene. You have everything you need. We have a son. There is no need to get caught up over what people wear. You see yourself as a commoner when I see you as Irene Nirvana.” Her lover would always say. He was always so sweet but she always felt there was some misunderstanding there. She appreciated his words deeply but did he truly understand what it was like to be looked at differently? She pushed the thought away, focusing on Aziel rather than her past memories.

Irene jerked her head to Aziel. She looked deep into his eyes for a long second before speaking. “I am grateful. But please understand that wasn’t how I was raised. I am to repay you, whether you like it or not.” Her eyes presented that she was overly serious yet there was a brightness to them. She was very gentle and calm most of the time but when it came down to it she can be stubborn, though it is mostly in a passive way. She let out a soft exhale, looking away.

Irene was raised to be peaceful. That was what her Nirvana bloodline was made out to be. If someone gave her their kindness then she is to return it. It is the proper thing to do. Most people, especially, the people who were influenced by war, had zero respect for those with the Nirvana name. They would travel to great kingdoms and even bow before the King and Queen. No matter what they were always grateful for the situation they were in. Sadly, that had been passed down to Irene. She had that natural instinct to make peace. Yes, it is a gift yet she had more negative effects from it more than anything. Pushed around because she was never allowed to have a breaking point. Irene could be harmed yet still smile at the same person that maltreated her. It was a curse in disguise. Yet how could she avoid it if that was who she was?

“It isn’t the first time I’ve been treated this way. How your partner treats me….It’s normal, so there is no need to guard me against her bitter words. No matter how she treats me I will still treat her kindly.” She closed her eyes for a long second. Still compelled to say such things made her want to laugh.

Irene had fallen quiet, though she looked more dazed than anything. Finally, her stomach was full and her thirst was quenched. She was in a comfortable environment as well. She was now letting the drowsiness of sleep deprivation set in. She wanted to ask him many questions and she wanted to serve him in any way she could. But now, it was time for her to sleep. Her eyes fluttered open. “I’m sorry,” She whispered in a sorrowful tone. She was apologizing for her tiredness. Irene was practically falling asleep while sitting up. She shifted and found herself leaning against a cave wall. It took her a minute but she managed to fall asleep, even if she wasn’t in the most comfortable position.

“Irene. Wake up.” A startling dream, of which she couldn’t really remember, provoked her to wake up. She didn’t recognize the voice either. It had been a couple of hours since she had fallen asleep. She gulped hard and sat up, looking at her hands. She bunched her fingers into fists and got up. It took her a moment to get steady but she managed.

She didn’t want to waste her time so she decided to get creative, keeping her mind off of that odd but foggy dream. Irene reached for the food stash they had. It seemed like she was trying to steal but she wasn’t. Irene was merely trying to make something. She managed to concoct something out of what she deemed to be overly dry foods. It wasn’t the ideal meal but it was definitely better than the food they currently had. After she was done cooking over the fire, she served a decent-sized portion to Aziel. Without a word, she moved away from him. It took a lot of guts but she brought a portion to Saira. She bowed her head to show some sort of respect. “I thought you could use something to eat.” She spoke gently to Saira though she had the feeling it was only going to anger her. “If you need anything, J..Just ask me,” She smiled pleasantly even if it was a bit forced.

How would Saira perceive this? Would she get offended at Irene even speaking to her or offended with the food? She tried to force the conversation to lighten the moment but Irene didn’t even consider that it could make things worse. “Aziel is a very nice man, but he said you have a hard time liking new people,” He didn’t exactly say that but she was just putting what he said in a very nice way.

Aziel didn't understand why Irene kept referring to Saira as his partner. Did she think that the woman who cares for no one is in love with someone like him? If she does think that, that is the most hilarious thing he has ever heard in his whole existence. If he ever found out that Saira did fall in love with someone, he would be genuinely surprised since he just doesn't see the woman settling down anytime now or in the future. She is just someone that he sees living her own life without someone being by her side. Now, he wouldn't laugh at Irene if she told him she thought they were together. He would only crack a smile and amuse the woman by acting as her lover. Boy, would that annoy the hell out of Saira if he did that. He might get knocked upside the head or worse for it, but it would be so worth it.

As for him, he doesn't see himself being with someone either. Sure, the kingdom would be stronger with a Queen next to his side, but the thought of worrying about her being in danger all the time causes him to wander from the path in finding a suitable woman to be his wife. Besides, he has learned the hard way with what happened to his past lover. Ever since then, he has sworn to not fall in love again and guard his feelings with a thick steel wall. He doesn't need another woman wiggling into his life and her being taken away from him again. He will just have to rule the kingdom by himself, which would definitely upset his father.

It seems that no matter how much he would try to convince her that she doesn't need to repay them, she won't budge. He let a sigh out, running a hand through his hair. He doesn't like having people do things for him, which is why the majority of the time he does everything himself. It at least gives the people more time to do things they would like to do instead of always attending to him. It feels wrong taking someone for granted, even if it means that they are offering their services to him. He just doesn't understand why someone would throw their life away, even if they weren't getting pay and wanted to stay loyal to him, to work for him for all of eternity. He sometimes doesn't get it, but then again, he would be doing the same thing if he were in their shoes.

"Let's clear one thing up. Saira isn't my partner. She's my closest friend and one of the few people she actually trusts and can tolerate. If anything, she's like a sister to me." He explained, not wanting her to get the idea that they are together for some reason. It would be weird if they were together. Well, to him it would be. "It seems that I'm not going to be able to sway your decision, so I suppose it is fine. Just be warned I'm not going to be asking for anything." It's true he won't be asking for anything. She doesn't need to repay him in any way no matter how much she wants to and says it's how she was raised.

He watched her fall asleep, only getting up once he was sure she was in a slumber. He went over to his mare, grabbing a blanket from his bag and going back over to her. He gently covered her with it before returning back to the fire. It was hours later before Saira arrived back at the cave. She didn't say a word as she sat on the other side of the fire in front of him. He could only lean back on his hands, a smile of amusement playing on his lips. He can definitely tell that she is still annoyed about Irene joining them on the rest of their journey. She glanced up at him and scowled, causing a short laugh to leave his lips at her attitude.

He eventually went out into the night to check the parameter but returned just as the sun was rising above the peaks of the mountains. He brushed the snow off his clothes from a tree branch weakening and letting snow pour all over him. He walked into the cave, standing in front of the fire and having Saira join him seconds later. He glanced over at seeing movement out of the corner of his eye. It seems that Irene is awake, making him almost forget that she was even here with them. What a great person he is.

As she reached for food from the bags, he sensed Saira tensing next to him. He jabbed her in the ribs with his elbow, causing her to scowl at him for doing such a thing. He knew that if he didn't do that, she would definitely be making a smartass remark or even lashing out at Irene. As Irene was coming over towards him, Saira removed herself from his side to be away from her. He definitely finds this amusing that his friend is acting like a child with a new person on board. "Thank you." He said softly as he took the food from her. He took a few bites before he noticed that Irene is headed in Saira's direction. Oh boy, this might not end well.

He should've stopped Irene from going over towards the woman, but it didn't register in his brain until she was handing Saira the food. He watched closely, seeing if Saira would take the food. Without a word, she grabbed it and started to eat. He was slightly surprised, especially since she usually doesn't like eating food from people she doesn't know. Then again, she did watch Irene make the food and knew that she isn't trying to poison them.

Just as he thought that everything was going to be fine, Irene had to say the last comment. That only made him spit the food he had in his mouth out, his eyes wide as a deer's in headlights as he looked in their direction. Saira definitely had a pissed-off expression on her face, causing him to gently set the food on the ground and taking a few steps back with his hands up as a way of surrender. "Abort mission. I repeat, abort the mission." He said, his eyes trained on the lioness of a woman giving him the death stare.

"Did he now?" Saira finally spoke, her voice as sharp as knives and cold as ice. "I think that is far from what he said." Just in a blink of an eye, a knife was in her hand as she pointed it towards Irene's neck. "He is indeed a nice man, which is why I'm so protective over him because he trusts too easily. He has been hurt too many times for you to come running along and trying to wiggle your way in to be on his good side because he is the Prince of Zariya."

"Saira." His voice was deep, holding a warning tone to it. This is not how he wanted Irene to find out who he truly is.

She ignored him, having the knife now be pressed against Irene's neck. "You harm him in any way, you're dead. You break his trust and stab him in the back after the kindness he has shown you, you're dead. You even talk to someone who gives you a job to assassinate him, you're dead." Her voice seemed even darker, crueler than moments before. "In fact, why don't I just kill you know to prevent anything from happening to either of us?"

Just before Saira could slice her neck open, he grabbed her wrist to prevent it from happening and his body standing in front of Irene. He twisted her wrist, causing her to drop it to the ground and have it clatter on the ground. Her expression seemed to soften slightly, but it was still as harsh as ever. As for him, his whole disposition changed, which takes a lot for that to happen. He was radiating power, his Skotádi abilities trying to surface. He took a deep breath in, his eyes closing as he let go of her wrist. He slowly calmed down, getting his abilities under control. He didn't want to hurt Saira as he would only regret it later. It would also mean that Irene would find out what his main ability is and he didn't want that to happen. Not yet anyway.

"That's enough from you." He said, his voice hard and unwavering.

She narrowed her eyes at him, stepping towards him rather closely. "Is that a command, your majesty?" She spits with venom.

He stared at her for a moment before answering. "It is."

All she could do was shake her head before backing up and turning around to exit the cave. He has never commanded her to do anything against her will. He definitely felt bad, but how she is acting towards someone who was kind enough to make her food and just seems overall sweet and trusting is unacceptable. It might be a while before she speaks to him again, but he will survive since there are times she doesn't talk to him if she's pissed off at him for some reason.

He turned around, letting a sigh out. "I'm sorry. That was unacceptable behavior from her." He apologized, feeling bad that she has been threatened twice since they have been around each other. "Are you hurt? Are you okay? Is there anything I can do to apologize for her behavior?" He asked, bombarding her with questions without realizing it.

"I guess I should also fully introduce myself." He said softly, cracking a slight smile towards her. "I'm Aziel Storm, the Prince of Zariya and the next King to succeed the throne." He bowed towards her, something he was taught to be polite towards another person. "I apologize for not saying so sooner. I just tend to keep my identity a secret. No need to treat me any differently either as I'm one that sees everyone being equal to me no matter what class they are in."

It took her a while to catch on to what she did wrong. It made her hesitate. Was she not supposed to say that? She was merely being truthful. If Aziel and her were close then why would Irene hold back on what to say to her? Aziel did say they weren’t partners and that they were like brother and sister. But why would a ‘like brother-sister’ relationship be like this? “I didn’t mean to…” She was of course cut off by Saira. She wanted to take a long minute to explain but she didn’t have the chance to. Everyone makes mistakes, right? This just seemed to be the wrong time to be making those mistakes.

It all happened too fast. She couldn’t even tell what was happening until she heard Saira speak in a raw threatening tone. She grimaced when the knife blade pressed against her throat. The blade tip felt cool yet it craved to harm her skin. She was lucky she didn’t bleed by the pressure but there was sure to be a mark residing afterward. Irene didn’t know what to do. She just kept her eyes closed like a scared puppy. Her breathing grew shallow out of fear. Irene was nearly trembling by the fear but she managed to retain composure. She should have seen this coming. Her mind was racing too fast to follow everything she was saying but one sentence, in particular, caught her off guard. Her eyes opened in shock. He was a Prince?!

She wasn’t even left a moment to think or process the words that spilled from her mouth. Saira just kept presenting threats and nonsense when truly, nothing was Irene’s fault. And for her to say Irene would hurt someone…

Irene pushed herself to speak even though her mind was screaming not to. “Why would I dare hurt someone who treats me well? So I can be absorbed in a world full of people like you who mistreat me? By all means, if I were to kill someone you would be the better option. But you know I am not capable of winning that battle.” Her words were bitter yet she still found herself retaining a calm yet shaken tone. It wasn’t often she spoke harsh words but every human is capable of doing it. Irene would call herself weak. She had no powers to call her own and on top of that, she isn’t well-nourished, even though she recently had a well-filling meal. “You have vast assumptions but no facts. It is unusual that someone like you is feeling threatened by a powerless commoner,” Irene, by good means, could have used a harsh tone and made all the threats she wanted but she didn’t. Her tone was laced with sorrow and concern. She truly felt sorry for Saira at this moment, more sorry than scared to be exact. It almost sounded like she was trying to help Saira.

Irene hesitated abruptly when she saw Aziel grab Saira’s wrist which held the knife. It all happened too quickly and now it was at its end. She was finally able to get her mind clear enough to think. His demeanor was completely different. He was so kind and sweet just a moment ago yet here he was using such a hostile tone. It was startling really. Was he really that protective of Irene after just meeting her? On top of that, his power flourished. Even if it hadn’t surfaced it can still feel it. It was so abrupt that it made Irene freeze out of instinct. Though it felt familiar like it sparked something in her. She felt this odd build-up, almost like an obnoxious dwelling of something. Though that spark ceased when Saira stormed off.

Irene couldn’t help but be retained in silence for a long second, ignoring Aziel’s questions. She finally looked up at him, tears swarming her eyes. It took a lot for her to cry but to be truthful she didn’t know exactly why she was crying. Was it because of the feeling of betrayal? Was it because of the fear? She didn’t know but that was the least of her concerns. “Why?” She said bluntly. It was hard to tell what exactly she was asking the question for but then she continued. “Why let me embarrass myself in front of you?” She appeared to be entirely hurt. It wasn’t exactly the moment that transpired that she spoke of. It was of what occurred earlier. Through her eyes, she had taken the prince’s cloak. She even had the audacity to make the prince food that probably wasn’t quality to his liking. She had spoken so freely around him as well. It was how she was processing it that was holding her back.

Although there was vast confusion she found herself respecting his desires. A prince who will become a king but doesn’t want to be treated like royalty. It was more easy thinking than doing. The natural instinct is to respect royalty and treat them….well like royalty.

She let out a shy exhale, nudging the tears out of her eyes. She allowed herself to settle before speaking again. “There is nothing you can do for her behavior.” She subtly said. It still felt awkward talking to him, knowing that he is to be king someday. She fell silent for a prolonged duration of time. “But I can’t help but thank you,” She finally said. It was still hard for her to shake off the moment. “Who knew what could have happened?” She forced a weak smile in hopes he wouldn’t feel too bad about what happened.

Irene found a seat by the fire once again. Her face was flushed from crying. What was she to do? The last thing she wanted to do was find herself getting attached to him because of his privilege, hoping to get something out of him. Her fingers bunched into a fist out of anger, not at him but at herself. She shouldn’t even be thinking of those things. She wouldn’t do such a thing. “It will take me a while, but I will treat you the way you desire. That is how I can repay you for all you have done. I will repay you by treating you normally,” She gazed up at him, hoping that her words made him feel comfortable.

Saira didn't answer any questions that Irene asked her. Many people have said the same thing to her before, yet they proved later down the road that those words are so far from the truth. They always say things to sweet talk someone to get on their side. It's just unacceptable. It just shows how sick and twisted people are nowadays, especially once they figure out that Aziel is a Prince.

Speaking of which, it seemed that Irene didn't even know he was a Prince after seeing the shocked look on her face at those words. Well, she definitely messed up there, yet she didn't care as she just continued to spill threat after threat out of her mouth. She knows that once they get back to Zariya, he will want to have a talk with her, which is something she will only dismiss until she feels like it deems to be addressed. In that case, it will never be addressed and will be left as a conversation that needs to be left in the dust.

At hearing Irene say that she feels threatened by a powerless commoner like her and the sorrow and concern laced in her voice, it only caused her to narrow her eyes at the woman. She does this to protect someone that's like a brother to her and going to be the next great King with how caring and sweet he is towards everyone no matter their status. There has been times where commoners attempted to assassinate Aziel, yet they all failed. In saying that, she has to be careful with everyone. "Even if you were a Ráftes, I would still be wary of your intentions. No matter your status, you're a threat until you have proven yourself worthy of my trust. Even if you earn it, it doesn't mean that I will think you still won't hurt someone." That was all that was said before everything went to shit and she left the two behind in the cave.

At seeing tears start to trickle down Irene's face, his face contorted into confusion and worry. Did he say something wrong for her to start crying? Is she still scared about what just happened? Was she afraid of the power that was radiating off of him moments ago? So many questions started to swirl in his head on why she is crying in the first place. This only caused him to take a couple of steps away from her, afraid that she was afraid of him or she wants nothing to do with him after learning he is a Prince. He wouldn't blame her if she didn't want anything to do with him considering a lot of commoners seem to hate his kind, especially royalty.

His brows furrowed into confusion at her question. Why what? He didn't understand why she is acting the way she is or what her question even meant. It's like she's trying to confuse him into making him think that he should know the answer to her question. He grew even more confused when she mentioned why he let her embarrass herself in front of him. He didn't catch onto what she meant until a few moments later. His face went from confused to anything but soft and understanding. He knew exactly what she meant by that question.

She wanted to know why he let her embarrass herself in front of a Prince. She did nothing for her to embarrass herself in front of him. He was the one who offered her his things and wanted to take care of her. He just wanted her to feel comfortable around him and Saira, even if that woman will try at anything to make it difficult for that to happen. She did nothing wrong in his eyes. He doesn't like people knowing who he truly is because that means that they will only try to be as sweet as candy. It means they will just treat him differently. He just wants to be treated as their equal because, in his eyes, everyone is in the same status no matter what anyone tries to tell him.

"Irene, you didn't embarrass yourself. I just keep who I am a secret because I hate being treated as someone that is above you. Everyone is equal in my eyes, so being treated as if I were a God just feels absolutely wrong to me. It makes me feel like I am taking advantage of someone." He said, giving a short explanation. If he could, he would run away from the throne and throw away all of the responsibilities that are piled on his shoulders. He would definitely feel like he is like any other person out there, but he knows that if he did that, he would be leaving his siblings behind and his mother. "It's nothing against you that I didn't tell you who I was. It justs... keeps things simple and is easier to travel when someone doesn't really know who you are." He said as he shrugged his shoulders.

He didn't really say anything once she spoke again. He didn't know what to say to that. He feels horrid about Saira's behavior, especially since that woman is so uncontrollable. She's like a hurricane that is it's hard to know when and where it will exactly strike. What's even worse is that she's as deadly as the deadly felines in the Africa Sahara. He tends to try and not provoke her, but when something like this happens, he is going to intervene even if that means that he might get hurt in the process. Though, he needs to learn to not always step in since most of the time it's none of his business.

He glanced up when she spoke again, a small smile on his lips at her comment. "I appreciate that. If I could, I would run away to get away from everything. Yet, I couldn't do that as I would only disappoint so many people." He went over to the blanket he had covered her with during the night and folded it up. He put it back in his bag. He then picked up the food he never finished from earlier and ate the rest. "It was delicious. Thank you, Irene." He was truthful about that since it doesn't take a lot to please him. If she gave him some bread to eat and that's it, he would still eat it and enjoy it.

He glanced out the cave entrance, knowing they should probably get a move on. He grabbed the bag of food, tying it to the saddle before going over to put the fire out. He looked around the cave, making sure he had everything before going over to his mare and mounting her. He held his hand out towards Irene, a soft smile on his lips. "Come on then. You're riding with me."

Irene gulped nervously, hesitating to grab his hand. She was nervous for a lot of reasons. First, it was the horse since she hadn’t ridden one in a long time, and second, she had to grab his hand. It seemed easy to grab someone’s hand but it isn’t every day that you get to grab the hand of a prince. It will take her a while to get used to his royal blood. Irene just had to focus on treating him normally. She quickly pulled the hood of the cloak over her head. It was much warmer wearing it. She flexed her fingers then grabbed his hand. Her teeth gritted out of anxiety. It has been a long time since she had ridden a horse. Irene was startled when his mare walked off. She couldn’t help but latch on to Aziel, in hopes she wouldn’t fall. It took a while but she slowly became more relaxed, not sitting so rigid in her seat.

Her breath was cold in the winter air. It was hard to believe she was traveling on foot in this weather. She was happy to not be anymore. “May I ask why you are traveling? Well, I am quite grateful you were since you saved my life but most don’t travel during the winter.” She asked softly. After she heard his response she decided to continue on this topic. Irene felt more comfortable talking now that she found him to be too kind for his own good.

“I used to travel a lot as a little girl, making small trips of peace. I learned the tricks and traditions of the Nirvana family during that time. But the traveling ceased when um…” She gulped like it was a hard topic to talk about. “...when I was deemed powerless.” She sighed slowly, taking a long moment of silence. “It was fun when I would travel. I especially loved the traditional foods of each kingdom, since they were always distinct from each other. But I have never left the kingdom walls after my thirteenth birthday. I guess you can say I was never allowed,” She laughed to lighten the mood but her laugh seemed a bit nervous. “I was actually supposed to make a trip to your kingdom to see a peaceful blessing bestowed upon the royals.” Irene skipped the part where she wasn’t allowed to go. Why would they have use for a powerless person to bestow blessings anyway? Her parents stopped participating in the peaceful Nirvana trips when they found out their daughter wasn’t going to bear any powers. They had been one of the few to continue traveling even through the suppression of the Nirvana family. There wasn’t a lot around anymore. Now her bloodline seems to be rare, almost like they all nearly died off.

“I will be honored to do a traditional blessing of peace for you. You are royalty anyway,” It had been a long time since she had blessed someone. Blessings were part of the tranquil responsibilities within the Nirvana family. Most women took on this responsibility since they were more elegant and prosperous while the men took on the preaching aspect of things. Women would take minutes to hours. They would take their time with their words finding the right words to say that hit the soul of the one they are blessing. Some would use certain oils, specially made by them, or medicinal herbs during their sessions. Men usually found themselves trying to relax the wars between nations and overall preaching between kingdoms. They had more of a dangerous job.

A blessing wasn’t anything religious but one for everlasting tranquility and peace. It was a great honor to get blessed by one of them. It was unlike any blessing. It tended to be more of a delicacy than regular or religious blessings. Many of the higher-ranking people received them, especially the royalty. Even though most common people don’t like ones with the Nirvana lines they have built a name for themselves.

“I can possibly do the same for your family. I’m sure they haven’t seen one with my blood nor received a blessing in years,” She hesitated afterward. Maybe it wasn’t best to have asked him that, knowing he probably didn’t want anything to do with the royal life. It was still best to offer.

It had been a long journey, maybe a few hours, but it was much quicker than she expected. Well, they were on horseback. If she had been walking on foot it would have been a couple more days, or at least that’s how long it would have been in the starved condition she was in prior. A few times she became drowsy but she managed to stay awake the whole way. She was happy to be traveling again. She felt much safer to be near a kingdom, especially one that is an ally.

Irene became full of excitement. She couldn’t help but be perky and curious. She hadn’t seen this kingdom in years. So much has had to change. Once again that child-like side began to creep out of her. She found herself speechless for a long moment.

Once Aziel helped Irene onto his horse, the mare started to walk away, which caused the woman to latch onto him rather tightly. He couldn't help but chuckle under his breath at her reaction. It seems that she isn't used to riding on a horse much less wanting to grab his hand to help her up. He finds it a bit annoying that she wants to treat him like a royal because of his bloodline, even though she is trying. Of course, he doesn't show that it bothers him, because he is polite that way. He will just have to remind her ever so often to think of him like he is in the same rank that she is in. He knows that it is easier said than done, but he just hates that people want to treat him better and be on his good side because of his status and how kind he is to them. He knows that she will adjust to it eventually, but for now, he knows that it is going to be a thing where he will probably have to remind her constantly, not that it will bother him.

He glanced over his shoulder at her when she asked the question about why he is traveling during this time. He can't decide if he should tell her about the meeting. Then again, she doesn't seem harmful enough to where she would leak secrets and whatnot if he gave her a vague answer. He glanced ahead, seeing Saira in the distance. He already knows that she wouldn't approve if she told Irene, but he doesn't care at this point anymore. Sure, she has a point in not trusting people, but she doesn't trust anyone, besides him. So, for him, her opinion is invalid in this situation.

Without waiting a beat more, he finally answered her. "We were in Alynthi taking care of matters with the alliance we have with them. I would have preferred to have gone during the spring or early summer, but it needed to be attended to as soon as possible." He somewhat explained, his shoulders slightly shrugging to show that it isn't that big of a deal. "Right now, they are having some issues with some of the resources we are providing to them among other things. Of course, it was difficult in reasoning with them since the rulers look down upon me as well as being stuck-up snobs, but we eventually came to an agreement in the end." There was no way he was going to tell her about private and strategy matters with her. Even if she might look like someone he can trust, that is one of the few things he doesn't tell many people about, especially when it is private matters.

He listened to her talk about how she used to travel. She seemed to hesitate in telling him why she stopped traveling, seeming to come up with a different response that didn't relate to it. Of course, he isn't going to push her on it since that is her business and not his. His brow raised when she mentioned his kingdom and going to give them a blessing. Interesting. He wonders why she ended up not coming to his home. He wasn't going to hold it against her, he was just more curious as to why she seemed to skip out on it. Again, he isn't going to push the subject in case it is a touchy area for her.

When she mentioned that she can do a blessing for him, he hesitated at that. He isn't sure what his parents would think about that, but then again, he can't take that into consideration. He is his own person and he is going to be King one day. In saying that, he doesn't need their opinions or snarky remarks about why it should or shouldn't be a good idea to accept her suggestion. "If you really want to, then sure, that is fine. As with my siblings, you will have to ask them. Though, I will tell you ahead of time that I am sure they will accept your offer without a doubt." He said, sending her a wink over his shoulder. Of course, he didn't really want the blessing, because he knows that in the back of his mind that if he did that, it will be harder for him to get out of the royal life.

After what seemed to be like years, they arrived on the outskirts of his kingdom. A small smile played on his lips at seeing the tranquility of the kingdom before him. He has to say that this kingdom is the only place that seems rather peaceful and calming compared to the others. Then again, he could be biased since this is his kingdom and he will try to protect it no matter what, even if that means laying down his own life. Of course, he would rather it not get to that point, but if it had to come to that, he will do it within a heartbeat.

As the shiny silver iron gates opened to the kingdom, the castle came into view even more. It was absolutely breathtaking. It stood tall, seeming like nothing would be able to break it down. Some green vines have slithered up the walls, yet it made it look so unique. Stone upon stone had built it up to have it reach high in the sky, a flag swaying in the soft breeze on top. The flag was a rich beautiful green and black ombre with a shining silver oak tree in the center. It matched the kingdom rather well, having it be in the lustful forest with a beautiful black starry sky at night and oak trees wherever you turned. Freshly fallen snow laid on the roofs, giving it an even more beautiful appeal. If anyone thought the outside looked stunning, their jaws will drop to the ground once they see how the inside looks.

He noticed his father standing on top of the stairs that lead up to the double steel doors to the castle. A small frown appeared on his lips, knowing that he might just get an earful about picking up a complete stranger, bringing her to his kingdom, and maybe even just criticizing his performance regarding the meeting he probably already got a report on from a letter. He hopes that isn't the case because he doesn't feel like dealing with it let alone falling into a foul mood afterward.

He dismounted Anya before helping Irene off. He grabbed the reins and grasped Irene's hand and guided them both to the stables. He didn't want to leave the woman alone with his father, fearing what he could do to the woman. Once they were inside, he let go of her hand and started to unsaddle the mare, not a single word leaving his lips. He seems to already be in a slightly foul mood and that was only seeing his father and not even talking to him. Boy, will she think differently about him once she sees the interaction between him and his father.

"Aziel." His whole body tensed, his hands stopping mid-work of brushing the mare's coat out. He should've known that even if he tried to avoid his father, he would still follow after him. "Aziel." His father said in an even firmer and harsher tone.

He slightly flinched at that but turned around slowly to face his father. The man wasn't much taller than Aziel himself, having short salt and pepper hair. His eyes were a piercing icy blue color, having it seem like they could look deep within your soul and find your deepest, darkest secrets. The man seemed slim, yet anyone knows that he can easily fight a battle without getting an injury if he really tried. Though, he is slower with his age and not always able to fight as long as he used to. His eyes seemed to hold a cloud of tiredness to them, yet they were as sharp as a blade of a sword. He was dressed in the finest red and orange colors and a sword strapped to his waist with what seemed to be diamonds embedded into the handle of it.

"Yes, sir?" He asked softly, his voice clearly tense.

His father glanced over at Irene, his brow raising at seeing her attire. "You never fail to disappoint me." That definitely caused a ripple of a shock to go through his body at his father's words. "What were you thinking? You suggested absurd things at the meeting let alone decline a marriage offer that could strengthen our alliance!" He flinched at his raised voice, his head lowering as words kept falling from his father's lips. "Don't get me started on this woman you picked up on the road. What made me think you would ever be a good man let alone a great leader?"

With that, his father turned around, showing that he didn't want to discuss the topic anymore until later when they are alone. He didn't raise his gaze until he knew his father was far away before he finished brushing Anya's coat out and settled her into her stall with a bucket filled with oats and some hay. He didn't think it was that bad to declined a marriage offer. He understood the significance of it, but why would he want to marry someone he doesn't know let alone someone he knows he won't ever love?

He glanced at Irene, giving her a tight smile that no longer reached his eyes as it did earlier. "I'm sorry you had to witness that." He said as he made sure everything was put away. "Come. Let's go to my chambers and get you cleaned up and whatnot." He said, gently grasping her hand and leading her towards the castle.

Irene chuckled. Her chuckle didn’t last long but a smile lingered afterward as the mere remnants of her pride. Her fingertips tightened against his attire. It was unlike her to just openly laugh like that but she did find his behavior unique to the point of her having no choice but to giggle. “It isn’t something that I just want to do. What I mean is you are going to have to want it yourself or you don’t appreciate it for what it is.” Irene found it comforting to give blessings but there was one thing she always made sure of when mentioning it. She doesn’t want it to be an obligation. Irene believes that each person needs to be in a certain place within themselves to receive a blessing. Not all people are in that place just yet. Her point is that an individual needs to feel like they deserve the blessing, not need it. It was simply something she had learned over time. Her voice grew warmer as she found herself enjoying talking to him. It had been months since she had a broad conversation like this one. “I don’t mean to be blunt but you seem to find everything to be a responsibility.” Her voice ceased, a soft breath escaping her lips. She took in the chilly breeze for a second before continuing. “Not everything is a responsibility, Aziel. Maybe it will help you if you stop looking at everything the same way,” Her voice had become colder, her lips hesitant to speak such words. It wasn’t the fact that he was royalty that she held her words, it was merely the fact that she held her words around everyone. Irene always hoped she wouldn’t say something wrong. “My point is...come to me when you are ready to have your blessing. The worst thing you can do is come to me out of sheer obligation,”

After her long speel of suggestions and remarks, her voice finally settled. She figured it was best to let there be some silence to continue their traveling. Before she knew it they came upon his kingdom. It was hard to believe that she was riding with the future king. He was soon going to rule the Zariya kingdom. The startling thought quickly evaporated as she saw the pearly metal gates open. The kingdom was extraordinary. There was a uniqueness about it that was unlike the Alythni kingdom. It was arduous to tell if her eyes were deceiving her for everywhere she looked it was hard to believe that it was winter. There were so many warm colors and smells that just made her eyes widen with curiosity continuously. Yet even with the warm colors, the winter snow just seemed to make it sparkle in a way that she had never seen before. It was so different from her kingdom. Maybe it was due to the fact that Alythni, at least in her mind, was tainted. She presumed that it was merely her way of seeing it, but once she saw it that way she never saw it how she originally did. Her kingdom was the place where she was deemed powerless, where she found out that her husband had died, where her son had passed away, and where she was treated horrifically. It became so dejected that she doesn’t even feel it is her home anymore. But as they entered this place she finally realized that she had forgotten how beautiful a kingdom can be. Sadly, the stargazing of surroundings had to end as they neared the castle.

Irene didn’t dismount as gracefully as Aziel, seeming to stumble for a second. Aziel didn’t leave her enough time to wander around. She was startled when he seized her hand. She expected them to make their way towards the man before them, not turn in the opposite direction. For some reason, she found his demeanor different than before, almost like he was trying to protect her. Why was he more defensive than before even though he didn’t show it on his face? She allowed him to guide her. She couldn’t help but allow her amber eyes to glance back at the man who watched them walk away from him. She was going to ask Aziel who that man was but he seemed to be in a foul mood for even having to be in this environment.

Her voice held itself still as she watched him mend to his mare, Anya, who seemed exhausted from the trek. Irene felt it was best to leave Aziel alone. The last thing she wanted to do was push his buttons with questions and comments. Her fingers twitched as she placed a hand against the horse’s neck, blinking a minor time as she appreciated what stood before her. She beamed over at Aziel but he was too busy to notice. At the same time he flinched, Irene immediately found coverage beside him. She didn’t usually seek protection of this sort but something told her to.

Her grip tightened on her cloak, her knuckles turning white as she squeezed in hopes it would make her feel safer. The demeanor of the man, who she now figured out was Aziel’s father, was raw and uncomfortable. She locked eyes with his cold icy eyes but she turned her gaze away. There was a manner about her that radiated shame. Irene attempted to step forward but she was frozen. She couldn’t tell whether it was the feeling she got from this man or if it were something else. “Sir, I--” She shamefully tried to pronounce but he was already on his own speel. This reminded her too much of her home, every person treating her this way. It was hard to bear but she managed to glance up at Aziel. Her amber eyes widened ever so slightly as she saw the way he held his head so low. It seemed too familiar. Lift your head up, she wanted to tell him. She couldn’t, her lips slimmed as she watched Aziel’s father storm off. She knew it was wrong of her to speak in such a moment and to even attempt to suggest something that even she didn’t want to do.

Finally, Irene spoke, allowing the moment’s adrenaline to wash out of her veins. “I have experienced worse,” She belatedly stated to Aziel, her eyes shallow with deep sorrow. She felt compelled to comfort him, feeling pity as he pushed a smile for her benefit. Now wasn’t the time. She allowed her hand to be seized by his. Maybe she thought too much of it but there was a way about him that seemed all too familiar.

As they made their way inside, her eyes glittered. The warm breeze of the castle hit her face. It allowed the bitter cold to slink off of her skin. The ceilings were tall endlessly, the walls filled with curves that were charmingly intricate. She knew no matter how long she stared at each feature it would never lose its gracefulness. “It is quite marvelous. I’ve never seen anything quite like it,” She managed to exclaim, somehow managing to keep her voice low even with all of the excitement. Her eyes scanned every inch of the estate like a child in a brand new store. In the heat of the moment, her hand slipped out of Aziel’s as she took kind steps forward. She trimmed her insignificantly cold fingers across every piece of furniture she came across. The woods that made up each piece seemed to be one of a kind, glossy without a single blemish. Each surface was smooth and carved. Her eyes sparkled with joy as she turned her gaze to Aziel. “Your home is better than I could ever anticipate,” She found herself seizing his hand that she once left as they made their way to his chambers.

His chambers were even more glamourous than the basic materials within the estate that she recently experienced and touched. It was unlike her home by a great degree. She used to make a living off of a basic cot for a bed and a home with such a ghastly draft. But here was way different. There were such fine linens, classic hand-carved furniture, and not a hint of dust. Her full lips fell slim as she gazed around. She wanted to touch everything to feel the fine fabrics and furniture that she had never thought to experience before but she knew it was improper to and she wouldn’t want someone doing that to her space. Instead, she slipped her hood off of her auburn hair, slinking it down onto her shoulders. She finally turned her kind gaze to Aziel. “It is rather enchanting,” She finally complimented, the words slipping from her lips like silk. Her fingers skimmed her cloak before placing a hand over her heart, her fingers gripping onto the fabric. “Are you sure it is okay for me to get washed up here? I can always find elsewhere to do so. I don’t want to impede on your space,” She gave a nervous yet genuine smile. “I am quite hungry as well so maybe I should just find a different place and--” Her voice fell silent. Irene knew that he was too kind for his own good. It was best to just accept his offer rather than argue with him. He was only going to refuse what she had to say, insisting that she use any necessities she wanted within this vast estate. “I know you will refuse what I am saying. The least I can do is show you my gratitude by saying thank you. I promise you that I will leave very soon,” Her hush voice lingered as she smiled ever so softly his way. “So thank you very much, Aziel,”

Aziel has heard the blessing that Irene's family has given other royal families, but he never stayed long enough to hear what it consisted of. He would always leave because he already knew that it meant that he would be tied down to royalty for eternity and his other siblings were in line to rule the kingdom, not him. Of course, that all changed once every single one of them declined it, leaving him to pick up the broken pieces they left behind. He wasn't able to pick up all the pieces though since his father loathed him as his mother did nothing to protect him from the fury that his father throws at him. Now that Irene offers this blessing to him, he wished he stayed to see what it consisted of and what it all meant. He knows that his siblings know about it as they always talked about it when they were little up until the family no longer traveled to do them.

His brows raised at her saying that he takes everything that is thrown at him as a responsibility. Technically, it is. Going to this meeting is a responsibility. Making sure that his people are safe and living happily is his responsibility. Making sure that his siblings aren't getting into trouble even if they are older than him is a responsibility. Making sure that she, Irene, is alright and taken care of is his responsibility because she needed help. Having duties be thrown at him for being the future King is his responsibility. Making sure there is peace between kingdoms is his responsibility. He doesn't remember the last time that something wasn't placed on his shoulder wasn't his responsibility. It also doesn't help that no one else doesn't help with some of this burden.

He glanced ahead, his jaw slightly tensing. "You don't understand my life then." He whispered under his breath, but loud enough for her to hear.

He understands what she is saying to him, but when someone doesn't understand the burden and the responsibility placed upon him, it's hard to not be slightly annoyed that they say something like that. Of course, he will take it into consideration, but he knows that he will have to take this blessing no matter what. It might not be now, but he knows that it will have to be soon whether it be tomorrow or a week from now. He isn't trying to be rude to her, and he hopes that she doesn't take it that way. It's just hard when someone says to stop looking at everything being a responsibility when technically almost everything is. It's hard to separate what isn't and what is a responsibility to him nowadays.

He hated that she had to experience the backlash that his father threw at him and pulled her into it on top of it. He felt horrible for it as he didn't want to drag her into it in the first place. He could feel her as she cowered near him when he first came in and only seemed to speak after his father was gone. It is always like that, having everyone be fearful of the man. He is one to be feared, especially with everything that man has put him through from the beginning. He doesn't know why his father treats him the way he does but loves his other siblings. Perhaps it is because he is too kind and forgiving. Perhaps it is because he is the youngest. Perhaps it is his mismatched colored eyes. That one wouldn't be a surprise as everyone has always been hesitant around him when first seeing his eyes. There is a lore about it actually, which gives them the exact reason as to why they are wary of him.

The lore is as old as time, dating back to decades and decades ago. People who have mismatched eyes are the most dangerous, wanting to crave the power of all four kingdoms. They want to rule over them, showing no mercy and being the most ruthless of everyone. That has happened a few times in history, but that doesn't mean he would do such a thing. Of course, his people know that, but the rulers of the other kingdoms are wary of it, always keeping him on their radar and observation, making sure that he doesn't grow too powerful or has a shift in personality. If they knew the power that he held, he is sure they will only try to put him down or imprison him, which he wouldn't be surprised about.

"I know, but you still shouldn't experience it. It's nothing anyone should see let alone experience first hand." He mumbled, his eyes shadowing with some sort of emotion that was hard to place.

As they walked into the castle, she let go of his hand to touch all the extravagant materials among the halls. He could tell that she hasn't seen such magnificent items before. He will have to be sure to show her the garden, having it look breathtaking during this time of year. As much as he would like her to look around, he would like to get her cleaned up, fed, and a change of clothing, something he knows she will like. Before he could say anything, she came back to him and grabbed his hand. He will have to make sure to show her the other areas of the castle as some areas are different, depending on a few things, such as what ranks, the council, different workplaces, and other things, look like. He will also have to show her around the town that he loves.

He chuckled slightly at her response. "I suppose so. I'll show you around sometime later. Sadly, you won't be seeing my siblings today as they won't be back from their travels until tomorrow." He explained, leading her in the direction of his room.

Once they got there, he pushed the doors to his room open. A large bed sat under a window, having the navy blue curtains pulled to the side to let light into the room. The sheets were silky, having them be a navy blue and dark grey color. A dark burgundy oak dresser sat along the far wall with a mirror hanging above it, having the outline be decorated with stars made of silver be connected to it. A dark grey couch was seated at the end of the bed, having blankets of navy blue be draped on the back. Chairs of the same color were placed here and there among the room. Two doors attached to the room, one being a closet filled with clothes and the other leading to the bathroom. Multiple papers were piled upon a burgundy oak desk along another wall, having it consist of duties as well as some drawings of the starry night sky he made.

He glanced at her, knowing that her fingers are itching to touch everything in the room. He slipped his hand away from her and motioned towards the room. "Be my quest and touch anything you want. I don't mind."

At hearing her protest to wanting to get taken care of in his room, he gave her a playful glare. Before he could say anything, she corrected herself, knowing that he won't accept her refusal. He is glad that she is accepting it, even though she feels like she might be imposing on him. She is far from doing that. If anything, it helps him stay away from his father longer and his fury that is going to be unleashed onto him once he is alone with that man. And just like that, a maid came into the room with material draped over her shoulder. She must've seen him and Irene come in earlier and knew that he will want clothes for her.

"Maribell will be taking your measurements for clothes and helping you in the bathroom." He started to explain as he gestured to the woman who walked in. "She will give you anything you need."

Maribell smiled brightly at Irene, having dimples be seen in her cheeks. "That's right, madame, I've been working with Prince Aziel for years now. Don't fright as I will make you look beautiful as ever." She said as she brushed a strand of her beautiful blonde hair behind her ear. Wrinkles were seen around her mouth, corner of her eyes, and forehead.

"Maribell, it's Aziel. You need to stop picking on me." He mumbled, playfully pouting at the older woman.

She giggled slightly and ruffled his hair, causing him to swat her hand away. "I can't help it." She teased.

He smiled brightly at her before his gaze flickered to Irene. "Anyways, after she is done, we can go grab a bite to eat. And, if you would like, we can explore that castle walls afterward."

"But-" Maribell started but was cut off by him.

"I will see him later." He said, referring to his father. He knew that is what she was going to ask him. He would rather do it now, but he wants to have Irene settled in first.

"Very well." She replied, knowing that he probably won't see his father later on in the day.

"Alright, now that we got that out of the way, I will let Maribell attend to you. I can wait outside the room or I can stay. Whatever you would prefer." He said, wanting to make sure that Irene will be comfortable.

Irene found fondness in his words. Was it that obvious that she still had child-like tendencies, wanting to touch everything in sight? Maybe there was a way her eyes sparkled that told him, or maybe it was because her fingers flexed with anticipation. Irene took numerous steps forward, sliding her fingers across the surfaces. Irene found herself heading towards the bed first. No matter how tempting it was she didn’t sit upon it. Instead, she caressed the sheets. The sheets were obviously made of the finest linens, cold to the touch yet capable of keeping the body warm enough even in the coldest nights. Every so often she found herself glancing back at Aziel in sheer excitement. It was as if she was seeing something brand new for the first time. Even the top markets nearby were sure to not carry such quality fabric. It must be specifically made for the royals. Irene took somewhat large steps towards one of the windows. Her hands hinged upon the curtains, closing them before reopening them just to simply cherish the way they moved. One hand slipped off of the fabric steadily reaching for the tapered glass that overlooked the cold weather outside. Right as she was about to touch the cold window her fingers hitched. Her body swiveled, her eyes wide as she heard someone walk in. She seized her hands, placing them by her sides. Irene couldn’t help but feel astonished. She didn’t expect anyone to come in especially someone to help her clean up. Irene couldn’t help but be nervous until the lady’s calming tone filled her ears. “I really don’t need--” She attempted to protest, but once again she was reminded to not argue. She bit her lip for a split second before smiling.

“I am grateful that you are willing to help me, Madam Maribell. Please call me by my name. I am Irene,” There was a simple reason why she withheld her last name. She wasn’t ready for the castle to know that they were in the accompany of one of the Nirvana lineage. Even though Maribell was of lower rank and privilege within the castle walls Irene found it proper of her to still propose her words respectfully. Her eyes hitched towards Aziel, seeking some sort of security. It helped her by seeing his kind eyes. He trusted this lady so it was best that Irene did the same. Irene’s smile grew even warmer after Aziel spoke his rich words. “The last thing I want to do is kick you out of your chamber. Feel free to stay, I am sure I won’t be long,” She reassured him, waving a gentle hand gesture to show that this topic was nothing major to fret about.

Irene allowed Maribell to guide her to the bathroom, giving a final glance towards Aziel before closing the door behind her. She never knew she would be so astonished by a bathroom. It sparkled with cleanliness yet was filled with the fine scents of soaps. It wasn’t long until a bath was made for her, the water tended with suds of soap and soothing oils. She slipped into the mildly steamy bathwater. The hot water uncomfortably kissed her skin but soon became comforting. She allowed Maribell to assist her in cleaning up since she was the one who knew the best ways to do so. She knew in an estate of this sort that they had better ways of cleanliness. Yet, even as she was getting washed up and merely lounging in the water, it has been a long time since she had received such peaceful bathing. Irene had minor scratches and bruises on her arms and thighs but it was nothing huge to worry about. Her skin grew flawless even though she could use a few more meals to thicken her skinny features. The blemishes, marks, and stains slipped off of her skin finally leaving her to be clean after a treacherous journey.

As they moved along, it was already time for Irene to be dressed. She was truly baffled that she was actually given the opportunity to have an outfit altered specifically for her. It all felt too good to be true, like a dream she never expected to have. “I don’t want anything too formal, Madam Maribell. I will be traveling soon so I want something that I can move freely in,” The last thing she wanted was something too poofy and restricting. She didn’t want to appear as royalty either for she wasn’t deserving of such material.

After many long moments, her outfit was made to fit her astonishingly perfectly. Her outfit was made up of fine fabrics that collared around her neck. It was slimming and well fitted on her upper half. Irene was pleased to not have anything loose draping off of her, knowing that she would get caught up on things if she had to travel long distances. At her hips, the outfit tapered out like a skirt but in a manner of a cloak, nearly reaching her calf. It gracefully tapered upwards in the front. The front of her outfit reached her upper knee. Each piece laid perfectly along with her figure. The fabrics were made up of a generous mixture of black, teal, and gold. The main base color was black embroidered by gold yet there were hints of teal fabrics to counter such a dark color. The mixture was light and not heavy to the eye. It was easily capable of working with the cloak Aziel had generously given her. Her specially-made dress fit her perfectly and even with the dark colors it didn’t dull her skin.

Other than her outfit, her skin was pearly, shining like the moon, though she was lucky to have a light tan in such cold weather. She would usually come across as pale in the winter weather. She was fortunate that she didn’t catch a cold either since she always grew sickly and she knew there was no chance of sickness right after such a cherished bath. Her face shape was clearer now that she didn’t have as many blemishes. Her figure was now more visible with the more fitted outfit. Her cheeks were partially flushed from the warm bath making it hard to tell whether the bathwater was too warm for her sensitive skin or if she was simply satisfied. Her auburn hair was pulled lightly back, leaving small flocks of hair hanging alongside her face. Her hair that was pulled back was twisted with curls that reached the mid of her back, close to her hips. In the light, her hair had flecks of natural ginger that stood out but overall her hair was blessed as auburn. For once her demeanor wasn’t dull but was rather sparkling.

She had never felt this great. Maribelle had done a glamourous job tending to her. There were only a few other moments in her life that made her feel this great so she did everything she could to cherish this moment, hoping it wouldn’t disappear. Irene felt compelled to pinch herself just to be sure that all of this was real. “Thank you for taking time to help me, Madam Maribell,” Irene still called her Madam whether she liked it or not. She didn’t want to be rude or insensitive especially given the fact that she had been given so much in the past few hours. As they exited the bathroom, Irene inched her way out in shoes that she knew were too nice to call her own. Her eyes finally scanned the room and landed on Aziel. Her fingers slipped along the fabrics that made up her dress as she spoke. “I wasn’t trying to go for anything formal and I truly didn’t want it to be restricting. I hope it still looks nice,” Her voice was calm, warmer than before as she finally found herself satisfied.

Aziel didn't mind if Irene wanted him to be kicked out of his chambers. It's not like he hasn't done it before. Sometimes he has done it for the maids around the castle or even the soldiers. Of course, his parents don't know about it or he knows that there would be some severe punishment for his actions. It's not like he brings them into his room and does things to them. He usually brings them here if they are having a bad day or something is going on where they need some peace and quiet as well as a day off. He leaves them in his quarters, not caring that if they stole anything as he doesn't have anything valuable enough to him for him to care about it. Besides, they never did as he has always treated them with such kindness and care where they never felt the need to disrespect let alone steal something from him. Besides, it felt like the polite thing to do since it felt awkward being in the room while someone is practically naked in the bathroom.

"Your wish is my command, princess." He said, bowing dramatically towards her, pretending that she is royalty.

He sent her a wink when she glanced in his direction one last time before disappearing into the bathroom. After that, his smile flattered as he ran a hand through his hair, brushing back the strands that are hanging in his eyes. He took the cloak he was wearing off and draped it over the back of one of the few chairs in the room. He wasn't wearing anything that screamed royalty to people if they took a quick glance at him. He wore something so simple, having anyone think he is a commoner. He wore a pair of black slacks and long sleeves shirt paired off with a pair of boots. He unstrapped the sword from his waist and threw it onto the same chair the coat is on.

A sigh left his lips as he went over to the window and glanced out it. His gaze watched people taking strolls along the streets in the city. He wishes he could do that without people noticing who he is. If only he was born without powers as no one could be part of the royal family if they didn't have any. It would make things so much easier on him if that was the case. Perhaps he can fake his death to wiggle his way out of this life that he hates so much. If only he could do that though. He wouldn't be able to because he knows that it would be incredibly difficult on his siblings if he did that.

While he waits, he ended up going over to the desk. He pulled the chair out and took a seat in it. He grabbed a paper from the stack and started to look over it to see what it was about. More papers about learning laws. How terrific. He bets there are some matters in here that require him to make a decision on what should happen to them. He knows that soon he will be seeing a paper about what he should do with one of the prisoners that are being held in the dungeon. Of course, he would rather let them stay there and feed them, but he knows that can't be the case because they have to hang eventually. He usually skips those papers and pretends he never gets them by tearing them up in such tiny pieces that it disappears.

After a few hours, he decided it's time to change while Maribell is still taking care of Irene. Besides, he needs to change out of these clothes he has been wearing the past few days when traveling. He stood up and went to his closet, opening the door to show various different clothing. Most looked like they belong more to the commoners, but he didn't mind at all, especially since he would prefer it that way. His father hated that, but he didn't care at all. Of course, if there was an important event, he would dress up in the finest clothing. If there wasn't, he would just downgrade his clothing to everyday wear.

He grabbed a pair of black slacks and a wine-colored long sleeve shirt. He set them on the bed before slipping his boots off and then his shirt up and over his head. Multiple scars lined his beautiful skin from various different things. He was definitely muscular, yet it wasn't overboard to where it looks like he does stuff every day to stay in shape. Ink is seen on his skin as well, having a compass on his left wrist, a beautiful red rose below his right collarbone, and then the most beautiful and detailed one he has, a black dragon that practically wraps around his whole right arm. That one he loves as it represents many things to him. Of course, the other two have significance to them, but not as much as this one.

Just as he was about to throw his shirt on, he heard the door open. Before he could try to cover himself, Maribell and Irene emerged from the bathroom, causing him to get slightly flustered that they are seeing him half-naked. He's not used to someone barging in like this, especially in his room and seeing him like this. It would be different if he was on the training field, but it's not. He heard Maribell giggle, knowing that he is embarrassed that they walked in on him in the condition he is in. Though, as soon as he saw how breath-taking Irene is, it disappeared.

He thought she looked beautiful when they first met, but after cleaning up, she looked absolutely stunning. Her hair was in curls, having them rest just above her hips, framing her face nicely and making her light amber eyes pop out. Her clothing complimented her well, having it clashed with her skin tone perfectly. If he could draw a picture within a blink of an eye and gift it to her now to show her how beautiful she looks, he would. Sure, he has seen many beautiful women throughout the years, but for some reason, the one standing in front of him has caught his attention from the beginning. He doesn't understand why.

He smiled softly as he walked over to her, forgetting that he is half-naked. "You look stunning, Irene." He said as he grabbed her hand and bringing it to his lips. He pressed a soft kiss to the top of her hand before letting go. "You did a stellar job, Maribell, as always."

"Anything for my favorite boy." She said as she once again ruffled his hair. "If you need anything else, you know where to find me." She pressed a soft kiss to his cheek before leaving the room.

He has always wished that Maribell was his mother. She has always treated him like her son since the day she started taking care of him. She was always there for him, having him coming to her often to seek comfort for the things his father has done or to help him make sense of things. His father didn't like that they were so close and tried to tear them apart, but he fought back, causing his father to give up. That is one of the few battles he was able to win against that man.

He flickered his gaze back to Irene, the same smile on his lips. "Alright, Irene, would you like to take a tour of the castle or would you like me to take you to the garden?" He asked with a tilt of his head.
