Anastasia was in the barn sitting on a stool near a mares stall with her phone out as she scrolled through the internet, the mare was due today and had showed a few signs she was ready so she was making sure she'd be there when she went down. She chuckled feeling Heidi messing with her jacket as she was in the stall to the left she put her phone back in her pocket and got up before turning to the flea bitten gray mare giving her a pat

After a few minutes and the warmblood mare was still standing and eating she left to go get a coffee knowing it was going to be a long day that was until her phone beeped from the tracker on the mare saying she'd laid down so she quickly got her coffee and raced back to the barn

"Alright honey, be sure to let Lisa know. She will be picking you up today." Zara sighed over the speaker, her gaze focused on the road looking for the familiar sign where it indicated it was her turn. A quiet bye was heard, and then the sound of the call ending. The mother flicked the indicator and turned her vehicle onto the long gravel driveway.

Her shift started fifteen minutes ago and she knew she should have left earlier but Miray was having one of those mornings and she simply couldn't get out of the house fast enough to beat the traffic. But, as she pulled up the place seemed quieter than usual, and Zara caught a glimpse of one of the Vets, Anne rushing to the stables with a coffee in hand.

"Agh, I forgot. Today is the day." With a quick and not so neat parking job, Zara flung out of the car with her work bag thrown over her shoulder. She rushed to the stables, mumbling to herself as she slipped inside and to the pregnant mare's stall. "Hey Anne, sorry I'm late. How far is she?"

Anastasia noticed the car pulling in but kept looking ahead as she quickly made her way to the stall, Finally at her stall she looked in and saw the mare lying down and giving a few small pushes her water hadn't broken yet so it would be a little while till there was a new foal beside her.

Looking behind her she spotted Zara, "It's fine, I think she's nearly ready gone down a few times but this one is the strongest she's had yet" She smiled then looked back at the mare as she rolled a bit before staying on her left side snorting. "It's gonna be okay momma we're here for you" she smiled

Heidi hearing a grunt or two looked over as the mare laid down before pushing a bit, She felt bad for her but it was nature. Hearing someone running she quickly turned and saw Anne rushing into the barn with Zara following, With a small nicker to the mare for good luck Heidi retreated back into her stall.

Zara smiled as she peeked her head into the stables, the pregnant mare lies on the ground, her pain eminent. The women felt a wave of remorse for the mare she she could understand the pain, gosh it was a nightmare when Zara had Miray born. "She is doing so well," Zara spoke, her eyes glued to the mare.

Then all of a sudden she cleared her throat and looked to the vet, her cheeks heating slightly due to an obvious lack of focus for the moment. "I'll go do the morning duties. Have all the horses been fed and watered yet? Or am I good to go straight to cleaning the paddocks after I drop my things off in the lunchroom?" Zara asked, raking her thin fingers through her curly black hair, pulling it up into a bun so her neck was free. It seems like it was going to be a hot day.

Anastasia smiled "I fed and watered most of them earlier but had to check in with this beauty so a few near the front of the barn might need tending to" She said before looking over at the mare again watching as she got back up with a long snort pacing a bit before standing still to sniff the ground before pawing at it a few times

Heidi relaxed in her stall enjoying the peace and quiet while she could knowing the mare next door wasn't going to be very quiet today, Her white tail flicking at her slightly round sides as she shook out her mane before nibbling at her bright blue hay net.

Zara nodded, leaving the barn and making her way to the house, where she entered and strode to the lunchroom. There were places to put the staff belongings and a sign-in sheet. Once Zara had filled in her details and start time, she made her way back to the stables and completed the tasks Anne mentioned. Horses were now fed and watered, all checked, and those needing morning medication were given once confirmed with a vet.

Zara then moved to do the outside chores, cleaning paddocks, feeding, quick health checks. Once finished she sat on a bench under the shade to catch her breath. She was hot now, with the hairs on the back of her neck sticking to her. She sipped her bottle of water and then proceeded to continue with her tasks. Marking off the stable chore board as she went.

She then returned to the stables to start on the stall cleanings, moving the horses to another empty stall, and then cleaning the filthy one. There were quite a few horses but not as many as their was last week.

Anne sat near the stall door on the soft straw watching the mare closely for any signs, Walking over the large mare watched her confused before coming closer and sniffing her leg. She snorted at the smell of washing powder before returning to her pacing, After a few minutes only hearing grunts from her and nickers from the horses in stalls nearby she heard a small trickle that turned into what sounded like a river. "Water breaking" She smiled and made a note on the time and sure enough not long after there was small feet coming through

"Foaling" She called to Zara as she quickly put on a pair of gloves just in case something goes wrong, The mares pushing seemed to be longer and stronger as she laid down before leaning back to push. "Good momma" Anne cooed as she crouched nearby closely monitoring her

Heidi peaked her head over and watched as the mare labored hard making her back away shaking her head not wanting to imagine just how much pain she was in but she did get a peek and see the foal so far had a pinky white nose and brown legs

Keith rushed into the barn, coffee in hand. The brown liquid sloshed around in the paper cup. It almost spilled as he set it down and stepped into the stall. "Sorry I'm late, Z wouldn't get in her stall." He shook him head, putting on gloves. The foal had a cute, pink nose and brown legs with no markings, from what he was seeing. (Sorry for the short post aha)
