| I am in the same situation, Hummer. There are some foods that I can no longer eat unless I want severe heartburn and acid reflux/indigestion |

| Go ahead and bring the cabbage, if your uncle doesn't like it, he doesn't have to eat it. You know what you can and can't eat. My advice is take care of yourself first |

| My family is getting together for dinner tomorrow and we were discussing what everyone would bring tonight. My Mom is doing the main dish of fish tacos and someone else offered to bring coleslaw as a topping. I leaned over and asked my Mom if I could bring plain cabbage as I dislike mayo to which she responded yes. Well, my uncle overheard this and told me that doing so would be rude and I need to grow up and act like an adult. As part of my autism I have a hard time eating food I dislike. Being gluten free makes things even harder as most people don't understand or won't accommodate their meals in such a way I can eat them. What frustrates me is the same uncle has a daughter who is autistic and never tells her to grow up. |
