That's all the vets we have left here unfortunately. Not to toot my own horn but I have fantastic instincts when it comes to my animals and I've NEVER been wrong. I clock the girl we had that had kidney failure months before it was evident and called two different vets out and was told it was nothing 🫩

I thought vets had to do rabies because it requires a signature and proof of vaccination and if you do it yourself theres no proof

I know. He taought us how to draw blood to run all our own tests too. We has a goat dairy farm for years so testing consistently was a must

And then they wanted a follow up appointment this week and she canceled. They proceeded to call her asking where she was even though she canceled through text and phone call

We unfortunately have a vet like that. My mom almost lost her dog a few weeks ago because they brushed her concerns off and said her dog was fine just had arthritis

The only reason we don't do rabies is because if you poke yourself you get it, or so I've heard.

SO true Athena. I miss that man, the only person to actually listen to what I had to say instead of going "well, looks fine! No tests are needed"

We do vaccine clinics. Rabies is 10 and then they have deals on other stuff

@Peggy, that's not a bad idea.

Right?! Vets charge way too much for those in my opinion. Our vet actually showed us how because he hated coming out to the farm so much because it took 2-3 hours out of his day. I was vaccinating cows, goats rabbits and dogs since I was like 13 lol
Hummingbird Meadows
01:56:58 Bird
I have even looked into vaccine clinics, but there are none nearby.

You could ask them to show you next time! We asked our vet how to do it and he was happy to show. Probably because he didn't like getting spit on 😂😂

Hummer
ah yeah well in that case maybe not the best idea

We do all of our own vaccines (minus rabies) on the livestock and we save so much money 😅
Hummingbird Meadows
01:55:04 Bird
@Peggy, yes, although I ended up going to the one closer to home. I think I will just end up going to the one that is 30 minutes away from now on.

01:54:20 Peggy (or) Peg
Was that the one you were asking about the other day, Hummer?
Hummingbird Meadows
01:53:37 Bird
@Athena, I personally am not comfortable doing that because I don't have any experience with it. He did need a rabies vaccine though.
Hummingbird Meadows
01:53:08 Bird
I guess it is my own fault though because I should've asked for a price estimate before scheduling the appointment. I've just never heard of a vet charging that much.
Sunset River Arabian
01:52:53 Athena - AAs
can't you do vaccines yourself except rabies? We do. Only like 8-12 per vaccine
Hummingbird Meadows
01:51:04 Bird
I took Finley to a new vet today to get vaccinated and they charged me $50/vaccine! I think it's safe to say I won't be going back there. I found a vet that charges half of what they do.

ah thank you! I'm so used to seeing homozygous genes being capitals that I get a little muddled with horse genes!

No, she has neither Creme nor Champagne.
Creme would be CcrCcr, and champagne would be ChCh.

She is however homozygous for Sabino and her Extension

Heya everyone, what is a good breed to try?
Should I try KNN?

I think your post is a victim of a poor title. I thought it was someone suggesting a new breed for the game.
As far as your question, I would look around and see which breed works for you as far as your desire for ratings, color, stud prices and availability...
KNN can be tough to breed exclusively true, because you can put up a stellar match and get a SH if a filly doesn't have Lp or a colt doesn't have both Lp and PATN (or even a PON if the foal is short for some reason).
If you like a challenge, KNN and RID are probably your ticket (small populations), but at least RID x RID always gives you RID and isn't dependent on color genes.
