You are right. I always grew up with them being called hummingbirds. but a quick google tells me ours are different to yours.
Still nectar lovers, but not as much 'humming' activity

@Sting, you live in Australia right? If so I am positive there aren't hummingbirds there. Sorry.

Actually they are "Honey-eaters"
Sunni

Bird it would make sense, a lot of read dye in our food has been known to cause problems in the body.
I may not be 100% right, I believe Cancers and urinary problems.
I was all ways to avoid red dye in food and drinks growing up because of an over active bladder.

09:28:46 Sting
we have them here too. Also bee-eaters.
Hummingbird Meadows
09:27:10 Bird
@Sting, yeah hummingbirds are only found in North and South America.

@Sunni, I haven't done research, but I have heard similar things about red dye. They don't need it to be attracted to the feeder.
Narran Park
09:23:55 Sting
I need to look into it.
I dont think feeding hummingbirds is much of a thing here in Australia.

It should be though!
Sunni

Bird she was running around filling all the feeders during the conversation.
She has about 6 of them.
She makes the sugar water herself.
She says the red dye in it is bad for them.

Talking about hummingbirds for an hour sounds like something someone who is on the spectrum might do. I can be guilty of steering the topic away to something that interests me.

Hey all! This is a forum for me to post away and get all my obsessive goat love out of my system (not that that's actually possible).
It'll mostly be goats, but maybe the occassional doggo co-star will show up. All my goats are purebred, registered Nubians, and I will proudly flaunt the fact. XD
At the moment, I have 4 goats in total. Them being 2 full-grown old retired ladies and 2 sub-adult does, they'll be turning 2 in a couple months. Some info below all the pictures about the goat and click on the name to go to their gallery for more pics!! :D
They are as follows!:
~~~~
Catalina - 5 years forever - Passed 8/23/21
Brief Sum: Catalina, a small bean, got pushed around a bit. However, she was extremely cunning and an escape artist of sorts. She has good bloodlines, but unfortunately only gave us boys while we had her. She and Destiny were besties, Destiny being her adoptive mother (I don't know the details, just that Catalina nursed off Destiny at her breeding farm but they aren't daughter and dam).
~~
Destiny - 9 years - 3/10/2014
Brief Sum: The lady in charge, she is very protective and relatively intelligent. She adores people, all people. She is of average size, produces a ton of milk, but has the poorest bloodlines (though they're still pretty great overall, and she threw us Iris so >.>)
~~
Stella - 8 years - 2/1/15
Brief Sum: Stella is pretty chill. She doesn't take all that well to strangers, and is wary even around me sometimes. She is on the larger side as far as build goes, but has great bloodlines, being closely related to some champions. Her mothering skills could use some work, and she doesn't much like other goats (Except Bean).
~~
Iris - Daughter of Destiny - 2 years - 2/27/2021
Kinda awkward teenager right here, this picture is about 6 months old :') ↡↡↡↡
Brief Sum: Daughter of Destiny, very well balanced. Unlike her dam, she's not particularly friendly. She's got some flashy colors ^^ and she's well balanced in build. She's pregnant due mid March 2023.
~~
Bean - Daughter of Stella - 2 years - 5/16/2021
Very, extremely awkward teenager right here, this picture is about 6 months old :') She looks better now, I swear!! ↡↡↡↡
Brief Sum: Daughter of Stella and she inherited her mother's beautiful legs so far, she's not developed enough to tell much more about her permanent build. She's so incredibly friendly because she was a single baby and the only doeling I knew I was for sure keeping so I spoiled her so bad and now she sticks to people like glue.
Here are some babies we had 2021 :3
~~
~~
Bucks we used for breeding this year:
THESE ARE ALL OLD PICTURES, I SWEAR!! They are both full grown and both high-pedigree bucks. I don't know why I can never find recent pictures of the goats on my computer 😭
I just got into purebred registered Nubians last year, but I've had goats for years. Honestly, Nubians are the best!
All of yours are so beautiful, but I really like whatever Destiny's got going on. Her coat looks so cool.
Thank you. ^^ Destiny has curly hair, and she gets so many compliments on it, and deserves every one. <3
Yours may not be registered, but they all have the prettiest colors! <3
Thank you! I think we're keeping her if Stella doesn't have a girl we adore. ^^
