Oh thats so good! My guy isnt quite "lob a blanket on" level yet but its so rewarding watching how confident they can become

Absolutely haha. I'm really proud of him though- he arrived at the end of May vaguely leadable but pretty much feral and had to live in the field shelter for a week. Now he's out in the field with no headcollar 24/7 and I can lob a rug onto him while he's loose without him lifting his head

Yeah Boulder so relatable. I try to let my horse initiate touch and the things we do whenever possible. Like take the extra five minutes to let her walk up to me in the field instead of going out and getting her, pause when she turns her head away when brushing, etc. It changes the game truly and has honestly completely changed how I go about life in general, for the better. Horses have so little autonomy in our world so the little things like that we can do means so much to them. When I’m bridling a horse or anything like that I notice that they will maybe seem like they’re saying no initially by turning away or something. If you notice and respect that a lot of the time they will immediately put their nose in after, where if you had tried to chase after them it probably would escalate. That whole philosophy just means a lot to me

Speaking of training
- I saw incredible training with Dan of Double Dan
What he can do with horses is amazing
I was enthralled with the Road To The Horse exhibition

Haha I'll put a bit less pressure on myself then thank you. I'm hoping to get some poles before the end of the year so we can do some proprioception work because my goodness that boy doesn't know where his feet are xD Plus side is he doesn't mind things being around his legs whatsoever since he's so used to wandering into things

No lines, and no chasing. You just don't know our way and I'll leave it at that.

I wasn't a super fan of Warwick until I saw an article heading that said something like Let Your Horse Approach You
(Yes literally only read the title)
And it's made a Huge improvement in my interactions with the horses at the barn.
I can have the stall door open and have them between me at it (huge outdoor pen) and they will chose to come to me and boop my hand without any interaction besides standing still.

And I saw a video where he said don't touch the horse until they touch you and they will tell you where to touch

(Some of it feels woowoo, but it's making a difference in the relationships between the horses and I)

Yeah of course, it’s definitely a trust the process kind of exercise you have to be patient and you’ll feel like you’re not doing anything but worth it. I enjoy when training feels more collaborative with our animal friends, worth the time it takes

Awww good pony! It just sounds like typical laziness/not being confident enough to carry himself forward. He'll get there!
Minerva

Ooh I'll have a look at that one, thanks Red!
Minerva

Haha exactly Puck! I'm hoping the more we go out the more keen he'll be to get on with it. He's a very good chap overall- and he's even happy to walk out in front of Minnie if I've got someone to lead her. He met his first tractor last night and was a 10/10 brave boy bless him

Unless your lunge lunge is 200 feet long it's gonna be a small circle lol

And no chasing, showing them who’s boss, etc. necessary. I really don’t enjoy having to do that kind of thing and good news, you really basically never have to XD

I said nothing about small circles, but whatever.
We have a different view of how to do things with 2 yr olds.

I really like Warwick Schiller’s “leading with energy” exercise for staying in the right position/responsiveness when leading, my mate was so “lazy” seeming and wanted to be directly behind me while leading, would pin her ears and swish tail when asked to go forward, it worked incredibly well
Minerva
01:31:33 Min
To be honest the maximum I'd ever lunge any horse is like 20 minutes, and that would be their entire work for the day. It has it's place but isn't my preferred method for anything

Min, he sounds like my pony! Just needs to learn a little responsibility about walking forward instead of being dragged every step 😂

01:30:05 puck
Yeah it'd hurt, small circles are the worst for babies. Great way to do damage to their joints. And chasing a horse on the line isnt exactly the best way to establish you're in charge 🙃

Geni giggled silently to himself as he walked away, the thought of her getting into trouble would be rather nice. Swish. He looked back, seeing the guards running in his direction, then he looked ahead, seeing a familiar set of ugly fabrics. "I spoke too soon.." He huffed before jogging in the same direction as Lizzy, but he turned sharply. 'Alright, I can either help it- I Mean, her or, I can turn her in...' he thought, a mischievous smile formed on his face as he navigated the area. Since seeing higher class guards were rare, most beggars and citizens stared in awe, memorized by the jewels, fine metals, and crystals...

Izzy landed with grace and took off again, seeing somebody wearing similar clothing in the distance. "JOHN IS THAT YOU?!" She calle out, the brute labled 'John' looking up and seeing her. "Yeah, what about it?" He asked, watching as Izzy stopped infront of him. "That, that's it." She huffed, pointing to the guards coming their way. "Yeah, either we could fight them and I would win, don't know about you or we could run.I like the run idea better." He mumbled taking off with Izzy only a few feet behind. They ran at a quick pace, having been old marathon partners.

Geni quickly found Lizzy, watching while catching his breath he saw her call someone's name before stopping, then they both took off. Geni sighed before taking off, good thing his armor was lightweight. Geni from a few feet away followed silently, keeping pace with the two, only slowing down to maintain his breathing or to rest a little, assuring that the two wouldn't leave his sight.
Eventually he figured out the path they were moving through, so as usual, he cut a corner to cut them off. Because of his plan he had gotten a confidence boost and his adrenaline began pumping, the light jogging quickly turned into a long stride sprint. Eventually he made it out of an alleyway looking in both directions l, waiting to see at least Lizzy.

John began moving towards the town and Izzy scowled at him, turning to the woods. "Not the town you idiot, the woods will be better.Just sprint until your legs give out, we both know how to push until we faint." She snapped, John just noding his head and the two sprinting towards the woods, no idea where to go, just running.Eventually they came to a cove and stopped for a moment, catching their breath which only took about a minute before they were ready to go at a full sprint for a while. "John, guard on your left." Izzy called, John breaking a guards ankles and snickering before turning back and plowing through a guard who was in the way before sprinting again. "We can outrun them, we'll be fine." John reassured, speeding up and Izzy pacing herself beside him.

(I had to rewrite the whole thing-)
After what felt like like hours Geni let out a sigh before walking again. But as he walked he saw a familiar silhouette heading through the woods. The man blew some air to het his bangs out from his eyes momentarily to confirm, which his assumptions were correct. He huffed before jogging towards her and the other person who also was dressed in strange clothes.
The constant jogging and running really is extremely exhausting, but Geni still pushes on, slowly but surely. "Halt! pLeSe AnD tHaNk YoU!" He wheezes, slightly flailing his arms to catch their attention.

Izzy looked back and stopped, John stopping aswell. They were a sight to see, if I'm being honest.John was atleast a foot taller and a absolute brute, imagine seeing somebody trying to shackle him.Anyways, they stopped and eyed the guard from earlier, Izzy rolling her eyes as she turned to see the wheezing guard. Why was he wheezing? It should be them who was wheezing, not the guard.Anyways, Izzy and John turned, seeing him. "Why?" John bellowed, wanting a reason.

Seeing the two stop Geni felt a lot better, mentally, if anything he wanted to die because of the excessive cardio he just did. Now walking to them he gasped before talking, "First off, I can't just leave you roaming around, at that poimt your looking for a good ol' death sentence, and second off..." Geni looked at the man before his gaze shifted to Lizzy. "It appears that the weirdoes are multiplying..." His voice was firm but had a slightly playful hint to it. After a bit he groans and slumps against a tree. "Sooooo, how do I put you two back into the... future???" Geni asked, his tone and face showing genuine confusion.

John let out a laugh and Izzy rolled her eyes, annoyed. "First off, I bet if you showed up in our time you'd get cancled and judged, alot." He teased, tone light and trying to appear as not a threat.Izzy shrugged, turning to walk away with John as they caught their breath for a moment. "Don't know. It's broken, though.Simply because we were all scattered and it wasn't there when we popped out to here." With those words, the two took off running again, pick pocketing others as they went. They ended up with three bags of coins, enough to survive--to blend in-- without failure.Thetwo walked into the market and bought some other clothes, long cloaks, tunics, and pants along with new shoes. They abandoned their old clothes and put on the new, slipping into the crowd and blending in, only to be reckognized by the very looks of their faces.Izzy turned them towards a weaponry, grabbing herself a bow and two sets of arrows as John got a crossbow and a few bags of bolts before the two headed into the crowd.

Geni watched as the ran away, in utter confusion he shook his head and slowly went in the same direction as the other two went. Upon getting to the crowded area he watched as they stole from the other lower class people. 'Have they forgotten that I too am a man of wealth? I could just hand them gold...'. With a groan he slowly followed them around silently. "I seriously need a new job, I should be in the castle at the duke's side, aiding him." He said to himself, before looking at the other two he's been following, "But noOOo, I just have to be out here babysitting YOU two from afar!" He yelled loudly, mainly aiming his anger at the two weirdoes, gaining strange glances from commoners.

John turned his head and snickered, elbowing Izzy in the side and pointing to Geni. "Apparently he's following us now." He mumbled, Izzy chuckling in response. "Shut up you doofus, you'll make us known." She mumbled, still chuckling slightly. They tucked their hoods farther down their faces, blending in well enough with the crowd. The two had usual townsfolke clothes on, tunics, pants, and cloaks hiding the weapons they had bought.Izzy pickpocketed more people as they went, getting a hefty bag of gold coins for their spending.
