I was thinking of ordering supplies from this company. I have heard good things and they have good guides.

Checkout used tanks often people will be nearly giving them away, just make sure to fill it up outside first for a few days to make sure it’s not leaking. Never take a tank with cracks even if they’re small and are current ply holding water

Or, you can typically do it cheaper by piecing it together yourself. Tank, light, cover(optional), heater, filter, air pump, airline hoses, bubble wand, substrate, and then obviously decorations (nothing plastic) and the fish.

I reccomend tetras as well, you want a lot 10-20 as theyre schooling fish and they have a high casualty rate especially when you first get them

You can get a 20 gallon tall kit at most pet stores for about $200 that will include just about everything except substrate, plants, and fish.

Bird, I loved my tetras, I believe I had the 2 for 4/5 years? But do be weary when you get them, I originally had 4 but unfortunately we lost 2 very shortly after due to the 'professionals' we talked with I'll informing us on the best amount for our tank!

@charm, I was hoping to keep it less than $500

Should always try our best with animals. Research is worth it

Like with anything it takes a lot of research (and it's a bit of an investment) to do things right.

Bettas are definitely able to get away with a 10. I just wouldn't go lower, they explore and swim around way more than people realize

After 3 months of work and almost 20k down the drain my truck will finally be repaired and drivable tomorrow >_< proud of myself for not giving up

Bird, Unfortunately I never got to try a planted tank, but I've heard amazing things! I do really wish I'd had time to lol
Hummingbird Meadows
10:13:39 Bird
For preferably a smaller tank. Less than 20 gallons.
Hummingbird Meadows
10:13:23 Bird
Other than betta fish, what are some good beginner fish?
Dash and Duchess
10:12:09 DD | ~Squizard~
Exactly what charm said! It really makes things easier, and the fish love it too!
Hummingbird Meadows
10:11:48 Bird
@DD, so you have had good luck with plants?
Backwood Barns
10:10:56 Charm's Wubs
I will always recommend planted. It will also help keep your tank clean and water quality higher because plants remove nitrates/nitrites from the fish waste.

Versa & Bird, gotta love plants and fishies!

Bird, you should! I made the mistake of not doing one with my tetras and I honestly regret it a bit xD

So I finally finish uni forever in the next week! (once I hand in my final honours dissertation)

Now I am wanting some advice with what programs people use to start out in art. I am more looking to start on my own horses first and see where it goes.

So here are my questions
1) what programs are you using/ recommend
2) any tutorials which you have found useful OR any tips you can give to a budding artist (haha)

I already have photoshop elements (can't remember the version) but it would be a few years old now and starting to get into the more complex stuff on that. Just want to know what others are using etc

I will finally have the time to have a bit of me time when I am not working on the farm or riding my horses so want to have something I can focus on to give me some 'me time' over summer

I used GIMP when I first started out and was able to find a ton of tutorials on deviantART - literally just searching 'GIMP Tutorial' lol. Beyond that, though, I'm no help. :P

I use PS CC 2015.5. I tried GIMP, didn't like it that much. I literally survive of YouTube tutorials. I great person I can recommend for starting with anyone on photoshop is Glyn Dewis. He has great tutorials that can be applied to most edits, and explains things thoroughly. He really explains why things are happening and how he gets it to happen, which I find other channels lack slightly. That's my advice :)

Practice is another huge piece of advice I can give you. Just get a horse image off the internet and start playing around with it. Try out styles and techniques and see what works for you. You don't have to post it anywhere - just have find with it and see what you can do.

Thanks guy!! Keep those suggestions coming. Really appreciate it. My boyfriend has gotten into photography on his hunting trips so will be playing around with stag images as well.
