I am looking for book recommendations! Reading level: YA, something hard to read is fine. Genre: True crime, crime, mystery General plotline and/or books similar: I really love true crime and have recently been addicted to The hunger games series as well as the divergent series. |

Reading level: Supposed to be for young adults, but anyone can read it Genre: Young Adult Fiction General plotline and/or books similar: A young cat named Rusty wanders into the woods and encounters feral cats. They take him into their clan (ThunderClan) where he is renamed Firepaw and trains alongside his friends Greypaw and Ravenpaw with his mentors. (Won't mention any further, it'll spoil it) It's called Warrior Cats: Into The Wild. |

Congrats! If you haven't read them yet, you will absolutely love them! They are absolutely fantastic, and with some of our favorite Dregs having their own sort of prequel moments in the upcoming Netflix series Shadow & Bone (based off of Leigh's The Grisha Trilogy, which takes place prior to SoC), timing for picking up these books couldn't be better! |

*SPOILERS: THE HUNGER GAMES*
I've been binge reading all of the popular YA books which the tween version of me stuck her nose up at. The first series I started with was, of course, The Hunger Games, and I have to say I was gripped. I really enjoyed the series, right up until Mockingjay which was just a big fat pie in the face. Suzanne Collins did Peeta so dirty. He was barely in the book and we only really got to see the old Peeta at the very end. Kind of disappointing considering he was my favourite character. Which I suppose doesn't say a whole lot considering my personal opinion that Collins tends to fall flat with her supporting characters. They're good, don't get me wrong, but there's always a frustrating potiential for more. Not to mention how much I hated the love triangle and Katniss' completely bleak POV. And towards the end of the novel Katniss' intentions were just totally confusing to me, she voted in favour of a Hunger Games involving Capitol children but then assassinated Coin? I'm not sure what I missed there but if someone can tell me I'd really appreciate it. The ending was meagre and kind of sad too, even though she ended up with Peeta, she didn't exactly choose him and there was something very dissatisfying about that. I really think the book needed another 150 pages as there were so many occasions where I had to reread chapters where important events occurred because they were so rushed. And of course, I'll never forgive Collins for killing off Finnick.
I also read A Ballad Of Songbirds and Snakes, but I'll come back to it later as I'm still unpacking it lol.

Consider yourself warned ;) Being a lover of horses as well as books, I love finding a mix of the two. this book, "Dark Horses", by Cecily Von Z., Is a great book. it has a fairly dark plot, but I'd consider it a YA novel. there's also a sprinkle of romance which I quite enjoyed. I'm no book reviewer so I think I'll end this here, but as far as horse novels go, this is one of the best I've ever read. I've read that book and I won't say whether I liked it or didn't but it's... incredibly insane. Like. Absolutely batshit. |

Have any of you guys ever read the Folk of the Air series by Holly Black? I just read it because I needed something while I was sick, and it looked interesting, and now I'm wondering what others think about it. The first 2/3rds of the first book seemed kind of clumsily done and boring, but then once it picked up the series was close to or on par with the other authors you guys are discussing here. |

I read them! I... didn't like them as much as the friends that recommended it to me did. I don't know if it was the romance or what, but something about it fell flat with me. But I do see the appeal to other readers. The last book was a fun read at least. |

That's honestly kind of the way I felt, at least compared to the book description. The romance felt extremely forced in the first book and still kind of in the second since it was built on that. The action was stellar in that last one though. |
