You are right. I always grew up with them being called hummingbirds. but a quick google tells me ours are different to yours.
Still nectar lovers, but not as much 'humming' activity

@Sting, you live in Australia right? If so I am positive there aren't hummingbirds there. Sorry.

Actually they are "Honey-eaters"

Bird it would make sense, a lot of read dye in our food has been known to cause problems in the body.
I may not be 100% right, I believe Cancers and urinary problems.
I was all ways to avoid red dye in food and drinks growing up because of an over active bladder.

09:28:46 Sting
we have them here too. Also bee-eaters.
Hummingbird Meadows
09:27:10 Bird
@Sting, yeah hummingbirds are only found in North and South America.

@Sunni, I haven't done research, but I have heard similar things about red dye. They don't need it to be attracted to the feeder.
Narran Park
09:23:55 Sting
I need to look into it.
I dont think feeding hummingbirds is much of a thing here in Australia.

It should be though!
Sunni

Bird she was running around filling all the feeders during the conversation.
She has about 6 of them.
She makes the sugar water herself.
She says the red dye in it is bad for them.

Talking about hummingbirds for an hour sounds like something someone who is on the spectrum might do. I can be guilty of steering the topic away to something that interests me.

Its my first time doing an lepoard appaloosa, so it is quite sloppy! I tried smuding the spots to make it look more like it belongs to the horse, I tried almost every opacity and it still looked horrible. Any suggestions? Also ignore the ugly tail, I tried something new and never again 😂
This is a WIP so I haven't even started grounding/lighting or the hooves so please also ignore that haha
Image is clicky
Oh also idiot me didn't realize I didn't have to have a thousand spots so sorry about that x)

I'd tone down on the number of spots and not make them so even throughout; Appy spots are typically more sporadic in nature. Something that I find helpful is to paint around the edges of the spots at a lower opacity, also - the "meeting point" of the white and colored hairs tends to be mixed.

This looks lovely! One thing I can see is the fact that the wings don't seem to belong too well. Theres no muscles or whatever that make the wings look like it belongs.
Try using this as a reference!
The second thing i the horse seems to have no shadow on the background.
The mane looks fantasic! Keep up the great work

There is something about your pieces that I really like. The horse matches the background quite well. The mane looks good but could possibly use more definition, there are heaps of tutorials (even here on HEE), I reccomend looking at some of them. Don't forget a shadow! I see lots of people forget but it really takes your grounding to the next level
