I'm so lazy to stalk straw threads, but I feel I should for my few EWE/EEE - W girl combos. They are always missing out on the AD brave boys and then I have to decide if I want to do a cowardish WWW boy, or a brave boy that might not be as adequate towards their AD rating.

that is a very subtle brindle! I got a brindle boy yesterday, but he was PEP from a WWW x EWE cross, so I yeeted him.

sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you will just reroll a horse a bunch of times and still just get the same shade of bay... :(

you can reroll brindles too to get different stripes, but other phenotypes, like sooty, chimera, manchado can roll off (or on if your horse previously didn't have them), so use wisely on those horses.

rerolls change the appearance of the horse they are used on while still maintaining its genetics. So if you have a tobi you can reroll it into a differnt tobi pattern, if you have a light bay you can reroll it into a blood bay, a near leopard into a leopard, etc.

WW and OO are lethal. Sometimes you also have to be careful when breeding a Ww to a frame, since whites can hide frame and then you might get an OO match and not even know it

So Roley is going to another clinic with the same mare I used earlier this year...back in April, I believe it was...and her name is Bobbi. She did very excellent at the clinic before but I have not had the time (due to work, school starting, my mother going back into the hospital, and other things) to work with her after that.

I will be going out tomorrow (hopefully) or sometime this coming week before the clinic to ride her so nothing bad happens, just in case. I would love some ideas on what I should work on with her.

Some things about the mare and the clinic:

~ The mare has not been ridden since April

~ She is about 8-10 years old

~ She is still green broke

~ She kicks out her back leg when she does not want to listen/move

~ She has only bucked with me on her once (at a standstill during the first clinic)

~ She did very well at the clinic with me (ex. she did small and large circles at a trot consistently, she moved off leg pressure both ways unless she tried throwing me tude)

~ Has not loped/cantered

~ She is extremely buddy sour!! (She has another horse with her named Fancy {Will try to get a picture of her buddy})

Some things I will NOT do:

~ No loping unless at the clinic and I feel comfortable

~ No actual trail rides unless I have another rider with me (may not be possible)

~ No stupid stuff

~ I will not use spurs, crops, etc.

Her owner does want her to be a trail horse so I do want to eventually do everything with her but now is not the time to be working on her with anything having to do with trail obstacles. I do need to do some more groundwork like touch-ups and everything.

Like you said I would definitely work on groundwork with her getting her to go all 3 paces at the lunge both directions with lots of direction changes. Then once mounted I have found for younger green horses doing 1000 circles and patterns really keeps them fresh and works on their steering and consistency. I literally just looked at Pinterest for ideas of patterns and drills and there were plenty to choose from. I would just be sure to make her mind and if she tries to kick out/pull any funny business get after her and make her trot really small circles and work really hard. Then when she does well let her stretch out and love on her some.

If you are feeling really adventurous I would sac her out with jackets, tarps, umbrellas, newspapers, and basically anything else that you could image would be at the clinic so you are well prepared once you get there.
