We do strangles on all ours that are going to be going off property and haven't had issues with it. *touch wood* I'm pretty sure its required for showing etc no? I could be wrong on that but I'd rather be on the safe side.

100% agree with those who've said SmartPak! I love SmartPak so much! Their customer care is hands down the best, and they are so thoughtful when it comes to sending complimentary items from a messed up order.
I know you mentioned your trainer would be doing deworming, but I wanted to recommend not using Zimectrin or Zimectrin Gold...It is not FDA approved and does this strange tongue paralysis thing to the horse's mouth. (not a vet so don't know exactly what happens lol).
As far as vaccines, I do all that's available. I've only had an issue with a 5way that Lena had a bad reaction to, but we resolved that by splitting up the vaccines.

We vaccinate for Rhino and West Nile and Tetanus, never had any problems. I highly suggest Rhino for any horse that is in contact with horses that are not your own. Tetanus is great as a backup because you never know what your horse may get into (<.>)

Heres a link about Rhino.
