Bear in mind that horses descended from early game lines will have a huge amount of duplicates; this was back in the day when PPP was the best, and people bred to the reliable PPP studs over and over.

If the horse is Prlprl, I believe it has a 50% chance of passing it on with a PrlPrl mate, not 25% :)

Nope, this is not how genetic work guys.
PrlPrl x Prlprl is 50% of passing the prl :
The foal get one allele of each parent. The Prlprl parent has 50% chance of giving its Prl allele and 50% of giving its prl allele. The PrlPrl one is 100% giving a Prl allele as it's the only one he has.
The foal will be Prlprl (50%) or (PrlPrl) 50%.
