Could you send a video? That would really help us critique you. To start though, your legs are sliding too far back, you're falling forward, so you're clearly unbalanced in your saddle and loose in the tack. Also, you're practically sitting on your hands and it appears that you're pulling on the horse's mouth. This will later lead to refusals, which will lead to falling off. Lastly, the jump looks about 1'9", not 2'3". Just saying...

the jump pictured he rushed into the jump horribly wich is probably why my position is off as he was pulling a LOT. i can try to send a video, if anyone knows how that would be great! but i never asked for critique in the first place i was just looking for a few tips (:

I've been reading through this and I'm a jumper by heart, although I love to do groundwork as well. I jump about 75cm and I've been riding for a few years, I got my first horse 2 years ago but I was riding way before that as I grew up outback. Any tips on leg strengthening exercises? I'd love the help as sometimes my leg tends to swing back slightly and I need to fix that immediately. Also, what's a good time to retire a horse from jumping? I've been told so many things about retiring horses and I just want to know what you guys think... thanks!

i do alot of no stirrups work, it helps lots. for me i used to have my leg swing as well so i tryed to push my leg foreward as i also had that happen, now from muscle memory it stays much more still. lots of leg workouts will also strengthen muscles (: the horse that i lease is 23 yo and he still jumps, in my opinion there inst and shouldnt be a set age where you should retire them. My lease is semi-retired and we ride 2-4 times a week and jump around 2 of those days. so dependent on your horses condition and if they are still enjoying it, i would continue but maybe not as high?
( just my opinion im far from an expert (: )

Ok, so you elbow look like chicken wings, so try to keep those tight to your sides, and your crotch is coming to far forward, otherwise, it was all covered by Palm Beach Stables.

Elbows in, set back and slide the hands up the neck more and that will help your upper body. Your legs are a little to far back but that takes time to learn and the setting back more will help that! :) eyes up and hulls down and stay off the ground lol!
