I do SD for ones that have one discipline much greater than the others (like SSE) and anything PPP+ gets shown AD
Shamrock Equines

SDs usually have ratings like A, S, and Sub surrounding the E or W.

Like Sue said, AD will make more money but also takes more time on your part. SD is easier but the horse is limited to one discipline with blocks of time where they aren't ready to compete. No one way is better for PPE/PEE/EWE type ratings.

@ Ariel, I train in AD and show starting with the best rating and when the Horse levels up in that, I show them in the next best discipline. Often they make more points and money in this way
Shamrock Equines
06:08:02 Crowley
I show SDs so highest rating gets used.

Guys, how do you show geldings that have uneven ratings, i.e. PPE, PEE, EWE, etc? AD or SD?

Same here Capp xD The SD stuff is easy enough to show by hand anyway.

So twice a year our auction house (2 mins from my house) has their horse auction.
My friend from down the road is looking for a new horse and she was going to pick me up to look *casually* for something on my list.
I am looking for a:
-Ranch horse
-Must be able to push cattle AND show well.
-Younger
-Must have some height.
Well... I found 3 that fit well. One is a couple mins away so I went and tried him out. He was great and works well for what I want. The other two have worked the weekly livestock sale, shown, roped with earnings and done trails. They are well known, safe horses around here. My brother ended up having a tounament the weekend of the sale. I wasnt going to be able to attend but my friend was going to watch the horses price for me. (I like to record the prices for future things). For the first time ever, they opened a virtual live auction. I will be able to watch, record and bid and pick them up when we get back into town Sunday afternoon. I am so excited and crossing my fingers that my top pick stays in my budget! If I come home with one... pictures will be added and if not, I will update with final prices!

Auctions are always super exciting. You never know what you might get. Sometimes, the thing you want ends up costing way less than what you're willing to pay

Update!
So, out of town but watched and bid online. I had the 3 horses above picked out and they ended up going WAY above budget. Many people came from out of state. The local roan, ended up selling for 12,000. An appy sold for 12,750, and my top pic, sold for 15000 to a private bidder!

just seen this post, but just for future info any horse listed as "ranch broke" or "kid broke" is going to bring in high bids. Those prices seem a bit high compaired to here but we have horse auctions weekly at the closest one and I think once a month at the bigger well known one in my state.
