A breeder that I follow (its like the size of a small GSD), had to drive 28 hours to rescue one of their dogs. :( It wasn't even 2 years old yet, and it was in a crate in the garage for a month and was down to 20lbs? O.o

I have been good about keeping my pasture empty, but I need two 100 acres for a month worth of hay and I only have a 50 acre. I need to get more

Yup, I need to par down my KNNs so I can finally use a pasture for hay next RO. lol

Well I have a field but not sure if I'm going to keep it since I only got 100lbs of grain this year. It cost me too cuz I needed to buy fertilizer. I think I'm going to sell it and buy a pasture.

Only need 3.5 mil more for RO lol I have 2 mil of that though.

Yeah hay pastures are definitely worth it. Especially if you have a large number of horses

Ok that's what I was thinking. I wouldn't mind a hay pasture or two but I won't save for the crops :)
Angels angels
08:42:29 [1k+ brindles] Angel
The only thing you can do with crop fields is you can grow grain to use instead of hay, you can do a senior blend to lessen the chance of older horses dying, and you can do a dapple blend which is just for looks. Really more work and money than it is worth

For the mounting block, I'd suggest working him in small circles on the ground at a fast walk/trot away from the block, and then let him rest AT the block. That way, he'll associate the block with resting. When he takes a step, make him work again, then lead him back to the block to rest. This method has worked for me so many times. :) hope it helps!
As for trainers, I like Rick Wheat. I've been breaking/fixing horses for a year or 2 now, and love his method. He can take 99.9999 percent of horses you throw at him that're crazy, buck, bite, rear, kick, or just need a little polishing up, and make 'em look amazing. He is a western rider, and you can find some videos of him on Youtube, I believe.
I don't much care for Clinton or Pat, as they seem a bit focused on selling you things/too much groundwork for my liking. Eh, just my opinion, don't jump at my throat for it.
Have a nice day, and good luck with Rio!! <33

Dim’s mounting block advice is spot on! I definitely second it. I have done the exact same thing with stellar results and it is very easy for the horse to understand.

Thanks, Bristol! <33 I use the same methodology for a hard-to-load horse.
