"You think I want this? You think I wanted to be shot trying to protect you?" He exclaimed, trying hard to stay calm but slipping quickly. "I don't know how to keep you safe. If I stop working for my father, we're both dead. If I stop the guys from coming in here and harming you, at least it isn't your blood dripping down either of our bodies!"

Lorelei was shocked. She'd never thought he'd yell at her like that especially when she was already upset and frightened. She pushed him away and bolted, sprinting past the bodies and blood on the floor, sobbing as she ran away. She just had to get away from this house...

"Lorelei I'm sorry! Please, don't leave!" He called, his shoulder swelling as pain racked through his body. "Lorelei! What can I do to help?!"

Lorelei just ran. She ran into the gardens in the back of the mansion, just running. She had to get away. If he wasn't going to understand, and comfort her through her hysterics, she needed to get time to herself.

Kai dropped to his knees on the floor, crying. "Fuck, Kai, why are you like this?!" He exclaimed, truly hating himself and hating he hadn't reacting nicely. "Fucking dumbass!"

Lorelei ran into the gardens, hiding herself in the way back, inside a hydrangea bush and just cried.

Kai shakily got to his feet and ran with his shoulder blazing toward the gardens. "Lorelei? Baby? Please, come out. Please..." He pleaded softly, hearing her crying. He followed the sound and crouched beside her. He crushed her to his chest, rocking gently and holding her silently for a long while. Finally, he spoke. "Lorelei, I'm so, so sorry for yelling. That wasn't fair and it wasn't your fault you got panicked. You were there for me when I panicked so I should be better for you. I'm sorry, baby"

Lorelei just sobbed into his shoulder, crying hard. "I need to get out of here... I never truly feel safe..."

"Both of us...or...just you?"
| |

"I want you to come with me, but you decide for you..." she sniffled. She didn't want to leave him, but she had to get away from all this death. "Think about it... our dream, to get married and have kids of our own? How will we ever keep multiple little ones safe, when you can barely protect me? I won't bring kids into this world if their safety cant be promised. Its not fair Kai, its not fair..."
