"This is better than poison..." He choked, voice ragged as he spoke.

Kayla nodded and continued, silent and her mouth in a tight line

|

|
"I'm sorry for leaving you..." He started, keeping his gaze down.

Gale stayed quiet and kept his head down, letting Kayla drag him along.

She muttered, ducking behind a corner as a guard passed and they made it deeper into the trees. "And you're lucky I grabbed this." She said, softer this time, taking a numbing ointment from her pocket as well as a fresh needle and longer thread

"I'm not going to 'throw you out', Kayla." He growled, wincing as his leg twitched a stump. "Guess I am," Gale mumbled, making sure they were deep enough in the trees before he pulled away and limped over to a tree before sliding to the ground, his eyes shut as he stifled a groan.

Kayla held his face for a moment, a look of frustration but mostly just annoyance in her eyes before pecking his cheek and getting to work sewing him up. She hummed their song too, of course

Gale didn't bother to look up at her, just pulled his face away.

Once she was finished, she put the number on the wounds and sat beside him
