Lorelei started crying. She'd been taken advantage of and on the brink of death one too many times. She didn't pick up her phone. She hit something in the road and her car went spinning. Lorelei slammed on the brakes. She didn't hit anything, but she spun out. Loreleis car came to a halt. She didnt get out the car. She was utterly terrified, sobbing her eyes out in the front seat.

Kai gasped, not expecting her to wipe out. He was out of his car before hers stopped spinning. He ran to her door and flung it open, his eyes worried and caring as he reached out, picking her up bridal style before setting her on the hood of his car. "Lorelei, are you alright? Please be alright..." He asked, fear leaking into his voice as his eyes scanned for wounds

Lorelei wasnt hurt, but she was scared. She scrambled backwards, and a little too far. She went tumbling off of the hood of her car, not hitting her head, but landing on her shoulders pretty hard. It would probably bruise later. "Stay away from m-me," she managed to get out through her sobs, picking herself back up off the ground. She held her arm, which was bleeding, close to her body. "Stay away," she mumbled.

Kai reached out gently and took her in his arms again, setting her back down on his car. "Calm down, sweetheart. I'm not gonna hurt you." He said softly and truthfully, grabbing a first aid kit from the front seat and bandaging her arm. He had a small, protective smile on his face the entire time

Lorelei struggled to get away from him the entire time. She scrambled off the car again, landing on her feet, "Thats bullshit. You were sent to kill me! Stay away from me!!" she yelled at him, still sobbing. She couldn't trust him. Lorelei ran off sobbing, practically in hysterics.

Kai didn't expect her words to hit so hard, but then again, she was right. He was a killer and was sent to her as her killer. "Lorelei...Please!" He called, desperation in his voice. "Without me, you're dead! If my gang finds out you're alive, we may as well both be dead by morning. Please, Lorelei. Trust me. I know it's going against every instinct to run and hide or fight me but please. Baby, i'm begging you!" He called after her, running to chase her down. He found her and placed a hand on her shoulder. "I promise I won't hurt you, Lorelei. Please, trust me. please." He begged, eyes watering. He didn't know why, but he felt a fierce need to protect her from any harm.

Lorelei stopped once he'd caught her. She was scared, so very scared. "Thats not my fault!! I shouldn't have to do anything for you just because of your reputation! I can protect myself, I can stay hidden, he'll I'd rather stay hidden anyway, but stay the fuck away from me!!" she yelled at him, sobbing.

"I don't want you hurt." He said simply, protectiveness and fear for her laced into his voice noticably. "Please, Lorelei. I need you to trust me. If something happens to you, I don't know what-" He cut off, grabbing her wrist and unholstering his gun. He heard footsteps, and not the law enforcement kind. He nearly stopped breathing, watching for an enemy. It wasn't one from either of their families, so it was a stranger- most likely. The person showed themself, lunging at Lorelei. "You bitch!" He yelled, being pinned to the ground by Kai. "Nobody talks to her like that." Kai growled dangerously to the man, putting a bullet through his head. Kai, still pissed at the man, turned with a soft expression to Lorelei. "I promise i'll protect you. I won't hurt you."

Lorelei squeaked, absolutely terrified. She was shaking, she was so scared. There was blood splattered on her pant leg. She was terrified of Kai, but he did just kill for her and that meant a lot in their world. Lorelei hesitated, really unsure what to do. Eventually she nodded slowly. "...okay..." she breathed.

"Really? Thank you." He breathed, huffing a sigh of relief. He cupped her cheek gently. "I'll never fail you, I promise" He said, hearing more footsteps. "Will you promise me that you'll not make a sound if I have to fight? Not a word. Please." He pleaded softly, stroking her cheek gently before removing his hand and turning so he had his back to her, sandwiching her gently between him and the tree as protection from her back. Another three men came out of the shadows, wicked and drunk smiles on their faces. "Don't take another step, boys" He growled at them, Kai's hand brushing Lorlelei's leg before taking a step forward as a human shield between them and her. "We just want her, man, you can go." The 'leader' slurred, stumbling toward Lorelei before Kai snapped his neck. Kai raised his pistol at the man who was about to lunge at him. "Not another step." He said, promises of death in his voice. "Hey, man, chill. Wanna catch a couple of beers?" The other man slurred, stumbling toward Kai as well. Kai shot him without a second thought, grappling the second man to the ground as he reached for Lorelei. "Don't. Fucking. Touch. Her." Kai growled, punching the man square in the jaw with every word. Once the man was a bloody, nearly-dead mess, Kai wiped his bloodied knuckles on his pants and turned to Lorelei again. "Are you alright?" He asked, eyes glancing over her protectively. He had a knifeblade stuck in his bicep and a black eye along with lots of blood on his face and black t-shirt
