Kayla's cut touched her leg and she winced, flinching from thhe strike her mind told her was coming

Gale walked over and crouched beside her, taking her hand and looking at it for a moment before washing it out with the small bottle of water he'd been given and tying a thin piece of fabric over it.

Kayla had pressed her back against the wall, her arm oustretched as she held herself defensively. "Thank you" She muttered, not looking at him once he was done

Gale just nodded, heading to grab a flask before he sat in one of the chairs.

Kayla's eyes stayed on the floor and her defensive posture rigid. She was still scared of him, but she didn't know why and it hurt her. She didn't want to think of him as the bad guy but he'd been so angry with her and she'd been hit everytime she'd said his name in the castle, so why should he be any different?

There was a knock on the door, and Gale answered it, berading a woman away until he got pulled out. He came back a little bit later, rubbing his neck with a light frown on his face as he locked the door behind him. "Remind me to never answer the door here again." The man mused, still rubbing his neck as if it could remove the marks threatning to blossom.

Gale eventualy drifted off.

Kayla stayed awake for a while until she couldn't stay up any longer and she fell asleep. Her mind was clear of dreams tonight, but they would be twice as bad tomorrow

Gale awoke with the sun the next morning, yawning once as he felt the numerous small bruises on his neck.
