Gale shook her awake gently, holding her close. "Hey, no, it's not real. You're safe, I promise."

Kayla woke with tears streaming down her face and shaking."Gale..." She breathed, for the first time in a year. Her eyes searched his for comfort and safety as she tucked closer to him

"He's not here anymore, i'm here. You're safe,"

Kayla nodded, the tears slowing to a stop and the trembling stilled. "Thank you" She said quietly, burying her face into his chest

Gale nodded in response, rubbing her back.

Kayla knew she wouldn't be able to sleep anymore so she gently got up, grabbed a dagger, and muttered over her shoulder. "I'll be right back"
| |

"Don't die, please don't die." He called after her, flicking his eyes shut as he tried to drift off.

Kayla went straight into the woods, feeling vulnerable but needing to collect her thoughts. She sighed, sitting against a tree and twirling the dagger in her hands. She got up at the sound of feet crunching in the woods, her eyes darting around before she ran out of the woods and to Gale. She looked out the window and saw nearly an army come out of the forest. "Gale...Gale, we need to leave. Now." She said frantically, tapping him and gently shaking him
