Dulcie, I do believe silver only affects the color for black based coats, but I could be wrong.

Dulcie, yes you are right chestnut bases hide silver. I think I recall something about double creme hiding it as well, but I'm very unsure if that's right or not

Capital letters mean the gene is present
There are 2 colors that need an absence of the gene
Red (ee) means no black is present
Pearl (pp) think of pearl as toner

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure ZZ is no silver and zz is homo silver.
My memory is iffy though so don't quote me haha

Silver (Zz/ZZ) only shows on black base coats (Ee/EE) correct?
CWY country

Zz or ZZ means the horse has silver. zz means the horse doesn't have silver. Hope that makes a little more sense.
Golden Rose
11:48:02 Rose
Zz means the horse is carrying one copy of silver. One copy means the horse has a chance of passing silver onto their offspring. If the horse is ZZ, then it carries two copies and every foal they throw is guaranteed to be silver
CWY country
11:39:51 C
Fanta, it means that the horse is silver or if it isn't showing, its hiding silver.

In a genetic test, what does Zz for silver mean?

I am super curious how others do their smudging (or lack of)
I'm trying to find a few things to add to my style

Any help is greatly appreciated

Before smudging, I sharpen my horse so it will be easier to keep details, highlights, and shadows.
I then smudge on a soft brush at 20% strength. I always start on the shoulder of the horse and work back. I then go in with a smaller brush on the same strength (sometimes slightly lower strength) to smudge the legs and face.
After smudging, I usually either resharpen or go in and draw on shadows and highlights.

I have a very easy, yet strange, way of body prepping.
It's make absolutely no sense if
1) i tired to write it out
2) you dont use photoshop.

it is in line with this:

I adapted mine from a bunch of tutorials

I basically smudge my body all over with a 9% soft brush on a seperate layer so I have control over it. I just smudge it all until it's all blended together. Then I lower the opacity of the smudging layer so it looks kinda smudged but not too much. Then I remove any noise on the main layer, and do the highlighting and shading thing in the tutorial.

First I usually reduce noise, and then I duplicate my horse layer and clip my new layer to my old one. This keeps the edges clean. I smudge the top layer with an 8% soft round brush, making sure not to blur out any of the details now I wish to keep, such as fine facial features, muscles, or any other defining features.

The end. :)
