Rose shook with pain and fear, her lungs on fire as well as her head now. She clutched onto Caden, scared to let go

Caden let the tears run out silently out of fear. Fear for Rose, fear he would lose her, fear he was going to get her hopes up and hurt her worse. He held her close to him, the man's face out of view.

Rose eventually fell asleep, in pain and tears still on her cheeks

Caden curled into her and kept her close and tight in his arms, drifitng off as well.

Caden awoke about a hour later, not falling asleep for the rest of the night.

Rose woke the next morning with a wince, clutching Caden still. Her breathing was quick and shallow, her pulse speeding

Caden was still where he was, looking like a trainwreck. Eyes faintly red, hair tassled, tired.

After the pain died down once more, she sat up. "Sorry" She muttered, wiping her face off and stifling a wince at the sharp pain up her lungs. "Oh, Caden....Come here, love." She said, gently stroking his face. Edited at April 24, 2025 08:29 PM by Blue Diamond

"You're fine," He mumbled, voice gravely from lack of sleep. Caden said nothing and curled into her, finally feeling as though he was about to drift off when he did.
