Awesome!

I did a quick forum search for "Member Show" and "Arena" to see if I could find you any more information.

Unfortunately, the most relevant to your questions is:
-HEE Click-

But it's a year old.

Some interesting bits were about players asking how to participate in member shows with some quick tips on what horses to pick for the most profit.

- if you get your arena up and running, you're welcome to message me and I'll send a couple entries your way

Hi,

1. Yes. According to the Game Guide under Member Shows and Arenas - Only those horses entered who are in the top percentile come away with prize money, which is directly related to the entry fee.
2. I believe so (I don't have an arena).
It's important to note the best case scenario is to have all classes with the maximum entries to get the best return.
There's a happy medium of the entry fee to the number of participants.

Personally, I like to enter with fees below 10k and above 200 ebs.

Check out the member shows to see what others are doing. Click through the shows and see how many entrants in each class, their fee, and how often they run (every three days or weekly, or club based).

Some days there are a ton of Cross Country shows and other days there aren't any.

Heyy!
Hope everyone is well... I have 2 questions
1. Do the member shows that have higher entry fees have higher prizes?
2. If I make the entry fee higher for a member show (I own an arena), will I get more money?

I have a 25 yr. old gelding whose name is Dew. Or Do. Anyway he always limps when we take him to shows. Of course, I don't ride him if he is and if we know beforehand we dont even put him on the trailer. We recently discovered some kind of pastey medicine that he takes before the show and he is gold! But then, after we get home, it wears off. He is miserable! And I hate it! He has arthritis but it doesn't bother him until he starts working. I need help! Does anybody know if there is some kind affordable medicine that he can take?

You should probably consult with a vet. There is things like MSM, glucosamine, etc that you can get from someone like smartpac. But you should probably rule out behavior (because honestly if he knows if he limps and you don't ride him... I've seen it happen). Other problems (ulcers, back, teeth, abscess, ect).

You want to avoid bute (which is probably what you're giving him in paste form) being used regularly. It can cause stomach ulcers.

I’ve read that rose hips will help with arthritis. I would try those, I’m about to try them on a 13 year old jumper I ride who had a leg injury about 2 years ago and we suspect she has arthritis.

Thanks Jerri! We do know it is not behavioral and we have talked to our farrier. It isn't an abcess. We were going to talk to our vet but we were on vacation. When we have a little extra time we should be able to do it. We just got back. I am just soo worried that it will be something that they can't fix and we will have to, ya know; we had to recently put down our mare because of stomach issues but our vet didn't know what it was. It's just soo hard.

I would definitely also consult an equine chiropractor. I used to own a QH gelding for several years that had a severe limp in one of his front legs. We spent tons of money on medications and different testing, the vets believed it was arthritis but weren't completely sure. One of our neighbors, who was an equine chiropractor, offered to readjust him to see if it would help. An hour after his readjustment, he was feeling great and was free of his limp for the first time in years.

How much did that cost. Or, how much does a regular chiropractor cost? I have accutully never heard of it before.

Woops. Meant to post that on MA.

My neighbor did ours for free. :) In my area (midwest USA), the fees usually run around $80. I'm assuming that pricing most likely differs from place to place. Many riders at a barn I used to ride at had a chiropractor regularly visit to check the horses who were regularly competing (ranging from barrel horses to eventers).
