The womans brow furrowed. "Magic doesn't just come on its own, it has to be summoned," she explained. "So whats happening, specifically?"

Camery wrinkled her nose slightly when she said it had to be summoned. The truth of it was that she really didn't know much about magic. The extent of her knowledge, being from the day kingdom, was that if you were royal you'd quite literally glow. She sort of looked back at Kai with furrowed brows before sighing. "He... well, he grows these horns, and his hands sort of turn into talons... oh, and there's this black smoke?" she murmured softly, her thumb running over the back of his hand as if they were still scales. "It could be emotion based... but this morning nothing at all was going on and it happened," she told the woman slowly, clearly concerned.

Kais mother thought for a moment. "Actually... I've heard of something like this..." she muttered, getting up and going over to her bookshelf, pulling out a book and flipping through the pages. She read over a page or two before handing the book over to Cam with a sad sigh. It was an ancient Night Kingdom legend- The Wielder of Shadows. The Wielder of Shadows had the power to control shadows and the ability to shapeshift, though was commonly depicted as a human with dragon-like features. Though the scariest power, was the power of instant pain or death to their opponent.

Camery nodded to the woman as she watched her wander towards the bookshelf, clearly a little on edge. She didnt understand Kai sometimes. She loved him to high hell, but right now they were with his mother. They were trying to help. He could relax, surely? Apparently not. She took the book curiously, her brows slightly raised as she read through it. There were a few drawings and things, all of which looked just like Kai. She bit her lips slowly and nodded to the woman. "Well... it looks just like him," she whispered, closing her eyes as she thought about the whole thing, trying to picture him.

Kais mother signaled for her to flip the pages. On the next page was four illustrations, one of a normal human being, another of one with the talons, shadows and horns, and the next to progressed quickly into nightmarishly horrifying things.

Camery wrinkled her nose when she was asked to flip the page, but did it willingly. She turned the book away from Kai when she clocked the illustrations, figuring it would stress him out to see. She glanced up at his mother with wide eyes, looking more than worried. "Is... this what... will Kai..." she trailed off, trying to gather her thoughts about the whole thing. Would this be what Kai would become? Or was this what Kai was?

His mother nodded sadly. Kai closed his eyes, not wanting to look.

Camery read through the book for a while before closing her eyes and handing the book back. Surely that wasn't right? Her husband wasn't some vile beast, he wasn't something out of her nightmares. She looked back over at him, and squeezed his hand tight before glancing back to his mother. "Is there anything we can do? He's... it's already scary enough," she whispered.

|
Kais lip wobbled as he let go of her hand and wrapped his arms around himself, trying to not cry. He hated being called scary, but it hurt more when it was true and from her. His mother took the book back and sighed. "He either has to supress it and keep his emotions in check, or learn to control it and accept it,"

Camerys eyes widened slightly when he pulled away and took a step closer to him so that she was pressed softly against his shoulder. She hadn't wanted to upset him, but the truth of it was that she did get nervous of him sometimes... especially when he was changing into something that was already terrifying. She nodded to his mom, then looked back at Kai. "It's up to you what you wanna do, baby," she whispered softly, then looking back towards his mother. "I have a feeling controlling it would entail... maybe letting it out?" she asked worriedly.
