Sage had rested quietly, only stirring when he heard Silas's excited voice echoing down the hallway. Well ..he'd been awake before then, but was still just laying around with his eyes closed. His sons voice perked him up a little though, and he sat up as they ran in, greeting them happily, alibet slightly tiredly. That wasn't abnormal though, he generally wasn't awake until after eating and all the rest, even at home. Really he was just glad to see the kids.

Mari wandered in quietly incase he was asleep, although when she saw he was up she offered a small smile and the kids seemed to burst in infornt of her. She just smiled sheepishly, watching the kids jump on the bed and berate him with questions as she moved to put the tray down on the side table. It had quite a bit on there, but no doubt Silas and Liz would eat it all if Sage didn't. "Morning," she hummed softly.

Sage offered mari a small smile as she greeted him, though he was too busy trying to answer the kids questions and such to actually respond at the moment. He talked with them for a while before he moved to grab the bowl of fruit off the tray, sort of just sharing it with the kids as they all say there. They'd need more after this, no doubt, but even so it was nice to do something so simple with them. Something relatively normal.

Mari felt a little smile cross her face as she watched her family together. She knew Sage had been missing them, and although the kids had managed to keep themselves occupied, it was clear that were glad to see their father. She stayed for a little while before letting out a slight breath and moving to go see if the doctor needed help with anything to keep herself entertained.

Sage had kept up with the kids for a while, though soon enough they had exhausted him. They seemed to have worn down too, so eventually they just wound up in a pile on the bed asleep by early afternoon. He hadn't meant for it to happen that way, but he certainly wasn't upset about it. And the kids seemed pretty content to curl up with him and rest too.

Mari wandered around the ward for the rest of the day, happily seeing to patients much the way she used to. She missed being here, really, and it gave her something to do while Sage was... not busy, but spending time with the kids. She wandered back in around lunch time with a big smile across her face, only to find them all asleep. She smile slightly and moved to sort of gently wake the kids, offering a small smile as they moved to wake up.

Sage didn't move when Mari slipped on, nor when she pulled the kids off of him. He'd gone out like a light, and he stayed that way for a good majority of the evening. He did stir when he smelled food though, and opened his eyes to Mari coming in with a tray of food, as she normally did. He offered her a small smile and stretched carefully before sitting up and moving to grab the plate she'd held. "The kids seemed like they're ok," he murmured, gladbthis hadn't affected them too much.

Mari nodded softly, putting the now empty tray down. She'd sent the kids off to go play for a little bit outside and given them some food, so that their father could get a bit of peace while he ate. "They're doing okay," she hummed softly. "They were excited to see you," she added lightly. They had been... and it was nice to see them all together again after so long. It had been a... while.

Sage nodded as she spoke, chuckling as she mentioned their excitement. "I could tell," he noted, voice laced with fond amusement. "This has probably been kind of weird for them," he admitted, sort of just slowly working at the food he'd grabbed. It was a simple meal, but he was working his way through it alright. Finally. It was a good sign, he supposed. He'd eaten a bit more then normal, and he didn't feel bad after. Hopefully, he'd be back to normal, at least in that sense, soon. He just really wanted to go home. As much as he loved the doctor and his little room down here....their home was special. Edited at June 17, 2025 04:59 PM by NightClan

Mari sort of moved to sit on the side of the bed after a little while, handing him a glass of water when he'd gotten about half way through the meal. "I'm hoping they don't think anything is too weird. I don't want them knowing about any of it," she murmured softly. That was the last thing she wanted. They'd promised themselves before they'd had Silas that these kids wouldn't live in fear... she stood by that. They didn't have to know the ins and outs of any of this until they were older. They'd be happy for now. She sort of looked back over at him when he'd finished eating, though, and reached to run her fingers through his hair. "Sage, babe, you need a bath," she mused.
