Sage couldn't help but chuckle in response to her comments. "Personally I think I've become quite good at not dying," he noted, giving her an amused look and pecking her head again. "Me too," he hummed softly. Then, a soft "I know." And he did know....he still remembered the time he'd thought Mari was dead. He still had nightmares about it all. He knew exactly how she'd feel if he ever died. Except there'd be no hope of him coming back. With mari, there was that slim chance. He hadn't really thought it was true, but it had been, and he was grateful. He could imagine how she felt. "I am sorry my rank opens us up to all this," he murmured after a second, brows pinching.

Mari shook her head, very much disagreeing. Nope, he was the worst at not dying. In her head, he'd already died ten times over in the last week. He'd been missing for so long - and when she found him again, he was a bit too close to actually dying for her liking. She was just glad he was okay for the time being. She was glad he was at least... alive. "That'd an arguable statement, baby," she murmured quietly, sort of stretching a little as she started to wake up. She wrinkled her nose when he continued, though, and sort of sat up just a little before leaning in to peck his cheek. "Don't be stupid," she whispered. "I knew what I was getting into when I married you. None of this is your fualt," she hummed.

Sage chuckled softly as she mentioned that was arguable, sort of just letting it go. It was amusing they were arguing about it all and whatnot, of course, but it was still early and it didn't really need to be argued about. They were just enjoying their morning. Though, when she mentioned not being stupid, he offered her a grin. "I know," he noted with a soft sigh. "It's just caused a lot of problems," he noted. He really didn't want to ruin the mood by getting all depressed, but....that's sort of where his brain was heading.

Mari kind of shifted to rest on her stomach, his little chuckle just making her light up. It was sort of nice just to have a chill morning. She hadn't slept at all when they'd been in the ward, and she did appreciate just trusting herself to relax. She pouted at him when he continued, and rested her hand on his cheek after a few moments. "It's not caused any problems," she mused. "It's everyone else that's causing problems," she continued. It was true enough. Sage didn't start anything with anyone unless he had to. People just saw rank as something to use, nothing of importance. "Besides, you're more than worth the trouble," she mused.

Sage hummed softly as he contemplated her words. She was right, he knew that, but his rank was what opened them up to all those people. If he were even one step higher up the ladder, things would be so much better for all of them when it came to that. But when she mentioned he was worth it, he couldn't help but smile softly and reach up to wrap his fingers around her gently. "Thank you," he noted softly. He struggled with those thoughts all the time....but Mari seemed to always know the right thing to say. "Don't let me ruin our morning," he added after a moment with a soft chuckle.

Mari shook her head slightly at his comment, really just amused by the whole thing. He didn't need to think about any of that... he'd really done nothing wrong. She couldn't blame him, she supposed, but she wanted to make sure he knew she didn't think any different of him now than she did when they'd first met. He was still Sage, and she still loved him more than anything. She offered a slight smile after a moment, and leaned in to peck his lips lightly. "You haven't ruined anything," she mused slightly.

Sage just nodded with a soft smile as she reassured him he hadn't ruined anything. Hadn't messed anything up. He couldn't feel like there was so much about him that could be better....but he trusted Mari. When she told him he was perfect, she believed it. He was working on believing it too. It would take time, and he'd come a long way from when she'd first met him, but this had been a major set back. Hell, he was seeing things again. But they'd get through it, and he didn't want to bring them up. Especially not now. So he just kissed her back and curled in again with a soft huff of air, just trying to focus on her. Their morning together. How nice it was to finally be home.

Mari furrowed her brows at him when he gave her a smile, her own smile slightly mirroring him. She knew he often didn't feel the best about himself, and she knew she couldn't exactly fix it, but she did want him to at least trust her when she said something. She thought he did - but he had to believe her too. She gave a bit of a dumb grin when he kissed her, and wrapped herself around him again, really just trying to enjoy a bit of time with him again - the last few weeks had been trying, but they he was getting better - and, they were home now.

Sage couldn't help but chuckle softly when she just giggled and wrapped herself around him, and he pressed a kiss to her head happily. He'd missed this. Her, their home, the peace of it all. Well...it wasn't all peace with the kids and animals, somethinws it was a bit hectic....but it was a certain kind of peace. And it wasn't one he'd be able to live without. So, he was more than happy to lay around with her. He did want to get out to the barns, and say hi to the horses. Just...check in a bit. Anthony and Xander did a great job every time, but still. He just wanted to make aure it was all fine. But right now, Mari was the most important thing in his life. So, he was content to lay there.

Mari smiled at the litle peck to the head, and kind of moved to bury her head into him - she hadn't really felt 'safe' burying into him until now. She didn't want to hurt him, and she couldn't sleep without worrying about him hurting himself. But this was nice. She stayed curled up with him for a long while until she felt herself getting hungry. She sighed and sort of pulled away from him, leaning in to peck his lips quickly before offering him a tired smile. "I'm gonna go get some food," she mused softly before slipping out to go make... something up.
