Sage chuckled softly as she spoke, nodding along as he slid down to the floor. "I know," he sighed. "I just wish we lived in a world where we didn't have to," he noted simply, shrugging after a moment. "We'll get through it. We always do," he added, just letting his head tilt back and rest on her lap gently as she moved to tug his hair loose, a faint smile forming on his face. "Well good, because you might need to help me get up off the floor after this," he joked lightly. Really, he was glad to just close his eyes and rest there like this.

Mari furrowed her brows slightly at his comment, and sort of reached forwards to run her finger up the bridge of his nose and between his eyebrows. "Try not to think about it," she hummed softly, her fingers running into his hair as she started to figure out different plaits and such. "You know we'll all be okay - You, me, and the kids. They're smart enough not to let things get to them," she added, continuing just to mess around with his hair. She hoped it was the. She hoped they'd all be okay for a little while longer. She smiled softly at his joking, though. "I'll do you one better. I'll get you some blankets and pillows and we can camp out down here for the night," she mused.

Sage hummed softly when she spoke, closing his eyes as she ran her finger up his nose and then started playing around with his hair. It just felt nice, he supposed ....there was a familiarity with it all, one he hadn't been able to really find up until now. It was almost like nothing had happened. Almost. "Yeah," he agreed softly, a small smile curving his lips upwards. "They're smart enough to figure it out," he added fondly. They really were just the best kids. Of course, when she mentioned coming out, he couldn't help but laugh. "As much fun as that sounds, I only had my bed back for one night and I'm not too eager to let it go again any time soon," he noted with amusement.

Mari nodded softly when he mentioned them being smart enough. They were... they took after their father, and he had to be the smartest man she'd ever met. he could get himself out of anything. She sort of started plaiting his hair up, sort of practicing on him. She knew he liked it, so she could be as long as she was gentle with him. If she was really careful she could probably get him to fall asleep in her lap. "You were just trying to sleep with the horses," She mused softly to him, pecking the top of his head softly with an amused chuckle.

Sage chuckled when she mentioned sleeping with the horses, shaking his head ever so slightly so as not to mess up....whatever she was doing. "I almost fell asleep after working with them, there's a difference," he protested with a chuckle. He was tired, but he sort of wanted to stay awake. Enjoy this little moment of peace with Mari. "Besides, camping out in the barn will be later," he mused. "I've missed my own bed," he added with a soft hum. He was slowly relaxing into her lap though, the soft movements of her hands soothing. Since he was already tired, it really didn't take long for him to sort of drift off where he was sitting.

Mari chuckled slightly, then shook her head. "You were asking to sleep in the hay loft... that was definitely nothing to do with being tired," she mused, carefully taking bits of hot hair to weave into a plait before gently pulling it out again and trying something else out. "In that case, you can sleep in your own bed for at least tonight, I suppose," she chuckled, as though she was the be all and end all of it. She kind of cocked her head and cracked on with whatever hairstyle she was doing for a good half hour and until she clocked that Sage really just wasn't moving. She cocked her head and make sure he was actually breathing before realising he was just asleep. She chuckled softly, and slipped away from the couch and crouched infront of him. "Sage, babe," she hummed gently, trying to wake him up as nicely as she could.

Sage sort of wrinkled his nose with a nod. "Yeah, like ....next week or something," he huffed with amusement. "Not tonight!" Of course, at her next comment he just chuckled softly, their soft banter giving way to a peaceful silence. One peaceful enough for him to drift off, apparently, since he woke to Mari crouched in front of him with an amused expression on her face. He sort of goaned when he realized he'd actually fallen asleep on the floor like that, shifting to stretch slightly as he woke, grinning softly. "Damn," he sort of muttered, blinking blearily at her. "What...what time is it," he asked, still really only half with it. But he didn't want to miss dinner....he'd missed maris cooking darn well too

Mari felt her smile grow when he started to wake up with a dumb grin spread across his face, and took a glance up towards the clock before shrugging. "It's six thirty," she hummed softly. "The kids managed themselves some leftovers for dinner," she started before glancing back to him. "You hungry?" she asked with an amused chuckle, kind of pecking his forehead before offering her hands to him to help him up. The kids had been fed, but she was happy to make something little up for him before he wandered off to bed.

Sage sort of groaned when she mentioned the time, nodding when she mentioned the kids had eaten. "Yeah," he sighed when she asked if he was hungry, sort of moving to haul himself to his feet, letting her help him the rest of the way up. He kept one of his hands wrapped around hers, sort of just following her as she wandered over to the kitchen, only letting go once she plopped him down in a chair and moved to get .... something for him to eat. He wasn't even sure what it was, he was already drifting off again once he sat down. He was doing his best to stay awake, since he was really hungry. ..but afterwards he knew he was going to pass out quickly.

Mari got to work fairly quickly after a moment, just putting a few leftovers together for Sage to eat. She had a feeling he wouldn't be overly hungry, since he was tired, but she did want to at least get something in him. When she turned back to him with a plate, though, she couldn't help her small laugh at the way he was sort of awkwardly positioned to keep himself awake. "Here," she hummed as she slipped the plate infront of him, offering an amused chuckle as she pecked the top of his head and got back to tidying up.
