I do keep a HOB (hang on back) filter in my betta tank, as well as a sponge filter. However, I have a metric shit-ton of live plants that break up the water flow. And my betta seems to defy all the rules and actually likes hanging out near the outflow of the filter *glares lightly at Nalo* he also made friends with two female guppy fry I tossed in for him to snack on, so now he has friends, which I never figured would happen.

I have a 135 gallon tropical tank, a 40 gallon guppy tank that I (regretfully) neglect, and a 20 gallon tank. The 20 gallon is my betta tank and requires the absolute most work to keep it clean. The smaller the tanks, the more difficult they are to maintain, in my opinion!

Bettas are also tropical, so they require a heater. And they're very sensitive to filters with any kind of water flow, and require sponge filters instead therefore

Yes. 10% water change a week, and checking water parameters frequently

@Versa, even a betta aquarium?
Versailles

I had a betta as a starter fish. With any fish, it's important to remember aquariums are a heck ton of work

Plants don’t add bacteria but they do consume some of the toxins
Hummingbird Meadows
09:19:29 Bird
@Em, that's a good idea. Do the plants add bacteria too?
ZequineZ
09:19:24 ZEZ - ZZ
Beneficial bacteria can be hit or miss I’ve heard but I personally have had good results with it. If you can steal some established filter media from someone that boosts it too
Insignia Elites
09:17:52 Em
If you add beneficial bacteria which you can get at pet stores it can make it faster :)

With cycling though you have to take into account a brand new fresh tank can run forever but unless something is put into the system, it will never be cycled because the beneficial bacteria doesn't have anything to feed on

Yeah I did have issues with nitrite for months myself thinking back

@Zz, just a month is nothing. I can do that. My research says 10-12 weeks which is like 3 months!

Well if you are wanting just one, a betta is the way to go. They are super friendly and personable and very easy to care for

I second the research. Specifically research the nitrogen cycle. Running it for A week isn’t enough usually. Mine took a month

What do I do if I use a picture of my own horse as stock? How do I credit myself?

If I take the horse’s image, then colour or edit it on an app, should I just put my stable number?

You also have to credit the horseÂ’s image.

If I have a piece of art made solely by me, does it have to say ©Insanity Stables or can I use a signature I have made and use on other sites, even if the signature is different to my stable name?

Either Insanity stable or just your stable number, we need to be able to link the art back to you :)

You can't take images off of Google. There is also another thread on what sources you are able to use for art.

I made this art for someone else but its my first time making art, so I tried it on one of my horses. Is it properly credited? Also, any tips on how to clarify it? I couldn't for the life of me clear it up!! Lol... I used pictures off of Pinrest, they said, in the description, that they are stock photos.
