yup! usually blue eyes are seen when there's pink skin/white pigment around them, though not always. Sometimes a white pattern that doesn't go over the eyes still causes them to be blue

Genetic question, on HEE what genes can make a horse have blue eyes? I've got an art idea, but I'd like it to be genetically accurate. ;P

Can champagne make blue as well as green?

Any advice on this?

I currently keep and show everyone SSS+, go through about 150 of these boys a week, and usually only end up showing 1/3 of them.

Thanks!

I usually only keep PEPcombo+ Geldings, but if you cut down on everything lower than PPP that might help? Usually PPP+ gelds show better than SPPcombo or lower.

Also, apparently gelds weak in heart don't show that well. I've heard it, but never tested the theory :b

Thanks, Skye! I have heard differing opinions on what ratings to keep. Most people would probably agree with you on the SSS+, but I've heard that PEP combos level up to fast... so, I'm not sure, haha.

And Hrt makes sense, since the trait is in both J and XC. If you have a gelding weak in Hrt, they most likely won't place well in either discipline, which isn't what you're looking for in a gelding LOL Would anyone have any parameters on what is considered "too" weak?

Depends how you show them,if its an xEx Or xPx gelding(And focus on their strongest discipline),he'll level up faster than you trying to show all disciplines. So if you dont already, would totally recommend doing that :P
I've read on someone's guide forums and they have a large successful showing army, That any horse whatever the rating is suitable for showing. But generally the higher the rating, the quicker they train and become the best of their competition group. And if they train well your more likely to show them right?
And the Hrt thing totally makes sense,as you said it is involved in 2 of the showing aspects.I'd have personally thought that "Too" Weak would be them not on the 'Average' scale of levelling up.(For me,id expect like at least levelling up in that section every 3 weeks at minimum.Obviously if it was SD,it would be different.)
Sorry for rambling on!Hope that helps xD

Thanks! The reason I show AD though is so my horses stay in the money longer, but I appreciate the advice!

I personally only keep SPS+ combos, showing them in their highest rated discipline. I find that EEE gelds train much too fast and are a waste of time honestly, but anything from the SPS-EEP combo range is what I keep, and they all show successfully. You've just got to be patient with geldings :P

Higher rated geldings get to the money faster, but they level up and move out of the money faster, too. Lower rated geldings take longer to get into the money, but they stay in the money longer.

Someone who's been around for a while (I forget who), said that she tested a bunch of geldings from a bunch of ratings back in the early days of HEE. She found that low rated geldings made almost as much as high rated geldings over their lifetime.

I think the problem with low heart is that low heart is what causes refusals.

Thank you guys - this is really helpful! I will definitely look into culling Hrt out of my gelding army, and I appreciate the input from you both on ratings.

Anyone suggest I also cull geldings weak in Spd, along with Hrt? Because Spd is also in both J and XC.

I use geldings that are SSS+ and I find they do just as well as the PEE geldings. I'm trying to get rid of my SD gelds because they limit how much they can show. It's all about the method you use.
