Maybe meet in the middle with a bitless bridle? I can see from a "safety of other people" aspect why they wouldnt want a horse at a show with no bridle at all, but its always seemed odd to me that bits are often a firm requirement

Cali, i own a KWPN stallion, who is 7, we do bridle less and bare back all the time, and compete bridle less, and jump 140cm bridle less.. we do it for 3 years now, and at first we got hate as well, but now people are excited and happy to see me and him compete bridle less. Just try to compete bridle less, if you like it (and don't hurt yourself) you can continue! That's my advice..

Its not against the rules technically but my parents won't let me at all, and they're not even equestrians

If it's not against the rules, do it anyway and show off. Bridleless is cool

And then I argue with some people about it and this is what I get "Its not all about you, horses should have a bit in no matter what your doing"

Like no! I'm not sticking metal in my horses mouth to make strangers happy

So I'm very into liberty work with my horse, as well as bridle less.
We're looking into a show for December, it isn't graded and is just a training show. I really want to go bridleless but am getting a fair amount of hate. It just really upset me

So I recently went out riding on my newer mare. She did good for the first few minutes. We walked past my older mare just fine but later she wouldn't leave Bella (my older mare). Emma (my newer mare) would stand there beside her and paw at the ground. She'd only move when Bella moved. Anyone know how to fix this following problem?

Most likely herd bound.

does she normally stay in a pasture with your older mare?
My mares get really herd bound.

Yes she does. But when we got her, she was the only horse there

I am pretty sure they could get herd bound that quick.
I would maybe search on it a bit so what you can find.

It sounds like you have a heard bound problem.

So I own a proud cut gelding that used to be extremely herd bound.

What I did was work him in the next pen from his paddock mates. I started on the ground. I worked him at free lunge for 5 days. For 5 more days it was riding him bare back with no tack. By the tenth day I could ride away from his mates.
