I finally bred my first WWW last month, and his grandma is EEW, but I feel I got lucky repeatedly there

No not really, not directly at least. It can happen, but is rare and requires luck. But strong EEE mares can get you W combos, and you could end up with WWWs in a couple of generations

I feel like theyre more a stepping stone to EEW and EWW combos then to WWW from there
